Cory & Lea Always in My Heart

When you see Lea Michele or hear her name, you may automatically think of Rachel Berry, the character she played on the hit FOX musical comedy “Glee.” But Michele’s career started much earlier than that. At the age of 8, she made her Broadway debut as young Cosette in “Les Misérables.” From that moment on, her world has been a whirlwind of performing on stage and on screen.

The multi-talented star followed her Broadway debut with roles in the revival of “Fiddler on the Roof” (2004) and “Spring Awakening” (2006), then moved on to TV in “Glee” (2009-2015), “Scream Queens” (2015-2016) and “The Mayor” (2017). In between her television roles, she pursued her passion for singing with her debut album “Louder” (2013,) and for writing with the release of her memoir, advice book and style guide “Brunette Ambition” (2014) and guided journal “You First: Journal Your Way to Your Best Life” (2015).

Michele is touring this month with her Glee co-star and friend Darren Criss, who recently appeared on “American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace.” The duo joyfully announced (in song) their co-headlining show during an appearance of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”. “We’re so excited,” said Michele during their interview with Ellen DeGeneres.

Kicked off at the end of May, the LM/DC Tour will stop in Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., and Indianapolis before making its way to Newark’s Prudential Hall at New Jersey Performing Arts Center for a sold-out show on June 9. Michele and Criss will perform together and solo, singing songs from Broadway, Glee (of course) and original songs from their recent solo projects, “Places” (Michele’s second studio album) and “Homework”(Criss’ five-song EP), both released in 2017.

Michele spoke with (201) Magazine about her new ventures, growing up in Tenafly, and why “Glee” is one of her most notable roles.
