     “What can I say, I have that effect on people.”

     “Pete, I know what I can and can’t handle.   I’m not fragile, you know.  Why should you have  to do all this alone?  Let me help you.”

     “I’m sorry, Karma.  Work keeps me busy, but I really do want to make it up to you.  I miss you when I’m away.”

     A light breeze blew through Blaire’s hair as she sat  just a few feet away from her slumbering lover.  The  book in hand was one she’d read several times before,  but still enjoyed as much as the first time she’d picked it  up.  She couldn’t help but notice, though, that H.K. seemed  to be stirring in her sleep.  She raised an eyebrow, glancing  over to her and listening to the small noises she made in  her sleep.  Little words, nothing coherent.  She seemed happy,  though.  Blaire rarely ever got to see anything more than a  neutral expression from her girlfriend, so this moment was  one to be cherished.  She watched as H.K. dreamed and laughed,  completely losing interest in the book.

     “Going to assume you’re from Atlas, or  at least somewhere in Solitas?” she asked, more  out of curiosity.  I’m from the southern peninsula  of Anima, myself.”
