can’t be your midnight love
(Commission 🌟| Buy me a coffee ☕)
i’ve been thinking about how it’s so easy to get lost on tumblr with the mindset of like “everyone in the fandom has friends and it’s only me who feels lonely” because you see all these friend groups around you and it feels very isolating sometimes. i want everyone to know that a LOT of people feel this way on tumblr (including me). i have days where i go online and i just feel very lonely like everyone doesn’t want to talk to me and i’m being ignored. basically i’m making this post because i want y'all to know that it’s not just you and i want to give all of you a big big hug
hey guys i think I’m gonna take a break from this blog, at least until... you know. you can find me on my main @songweusedtosing 💕
Just a few moments from Miss Americana where @taylorswift showed us she was willing to take action, speak up and learn!!! So I think we can all expect a bit more than something as “frilly and spineless” as a black square and a 24hr link.
And FYI, the time it took me to do this was the same amount of time it took me to sign up to thirty petitions this morning, donate money to two organizations and send emails to attorneys and mayors in Kentucky. If you have time to make edits, you have time to take action.

the downside of miss swift being a writer who can convey emotions as extraordinarily as she does is that she only had to write 2 sentences for me to hear “you happy now? leave me the fuck alone’ ighsdfhgs
if you are going to sit on camera and cry that you want to do more for marginalized people, if you’re going to sit on camera and say that you want to take your muzzle off, don’t be fucking scared to say “stop killing black people” with your whole chest and then give us something more than an instagram story that lasts for 24 fucking hours.
Activism
Supporting BLM or any social justice movement is not limited to the picket lines. Protests aren’t for everyone. But no matter your skill or ability, you can still drive change!
Protesting is one great way to get involved, but there’s dozens of others:
Artists
Develop your own creative take on the movement/issues and make it public...

@taylorswift I am not a tumblr stan but i came here with the hope that you read this. I am not going to defend you anymore if someone call you activism "selective and fake" because it really seems like you only speaks when something affect you. I love you. I really do. but it hurt me as a black woman how silence have you been with the BLM movement. it make me feel that you don't care about. called out trump was good, and yes, he is part of the problem, but this is not about him only. racism is not going to be solve if americans elect other president, and the fact that you didn't even notice pride month when last year you was very vocal about that make me mad too. what? the LBTQ + community's rights are not important anymore? If Trump had never said that about , would you have said something? What does that black square mean? Why did you take so long to say "black lives matter"? Why did it take you so long to put the petitions links? What was Miss Americana's goal if you decide to remain silent in this situation? where is that energy you put in wrote those long essays about your masters? where is? also is not time to be silent about your donations, this movement need voices! And i dont want to sound insensible, i know that you have personal issues but post something in social media, is just going to take you some minutes, for example, look what Gigi have been doing with her tweet these last days... And, is true that the cop who killed George is arrested now but there is a lot of other cases of police brutality towards black people, specially black women that have not been solved. @taylorswift
Today, Breonna Taylor would have turned 27. In honor of her, please consider donating to the gofundme her family has set up, and help those in her community who are fighting for her by donating to Louisville Community Bail Fund . Also, please sign petitions: including the petition set up by the Action PAC (it is aiming for 1 million signatures), the petition that’s been going around social media (it is aiming for 4.5 million signatures), the MoveOn petition (it is aiming for 600,000 signatures), and the ColorofChange petition (it has reached it’s goal of 750,000 signatures, but you can still sign). All of these petitions urge the Kentucky government to hire a special prosecutor to investigate the three police officers responsible for her death, to investigate the Louisville police department, to ensure the LMPD pays her family, and to get Congress to discuss the constitutionality of no-knock warrants. Additionally, visit the website set up by the political committee her family contacted, where you can make calls to key officials.
I got this from a Google Doc but I think it’s hard to access because of how many people who has requested it but here is the tweet with the links to every petition you need to sign (not just ones concerning Breonna) and other place to donate. There are templates provided on that document to help you write an email or make a call to certain officials. I provided links to their emails/websites, in case that’s easier to make use of than making phone calls.

With the FBI opening the case again, let’s ensure that the 3 officers involved in the murder face jail time, and that the demands in these petitions are met.

remember when you need to calm down came out and in the lyric video she put “you could be glaad” instead of “you could be glad” and then glaad, an organization that helps and supports and protects lgbtq+ folks, saw an unprecedented spike in donations within hours. she didnt even say anything. she didnt tell people to do that. and people still did it. think about how much money she would raise if she actually told people to donate to blm and other black justice organizations right now.
chauvin now faces second degree muder charges and the three other officers are now also being charged. this happened BECAUSE of protests and rioting and mass outrage don't you fucking forget that
i think one reason i’m so disappointed that taylor hasn’t spoken up is because she is known for being loud when something has affected HER. she said it herself, she’s the “resident loud person.” but typically only when it has to do with her. when scooter braun purchased her discography, she stopped at nothing to be heard. obviously i agree he’s in the wrong and i believe in what she’s fighting for, but why can’t she fight for others the same way? when the same exact thing happened to megan thee stallion, taylor stayed silent. taylor only started speaking out about politics when marsha blackburn threatened women’s rights, something that affects taylor. again, i’m glad she spoke out about that but why can’t she do more to speak out now? i don’t understand why she made an entire documentary about how she’ll stop at nothing for justice, but until everyone else was saying it on Tuesday, she couldn’t even say Black Lives Matter. then she just posted a black square and a generic link for resources. i’ve looked up to taylor for almost 10 years now and it’s so disappointing to see her stay quiet right now. also, i KNOW she tweeted trump but that just isn’t enough at this point. i love taylor so much and that’s why i so desperately want her to LOUDLY speak out in direct support of the BLM movement, publicly donate money, spread lots of resources, and be the best ally she can, 24/7. and i hope a lot of you feel the same way
can taylor just be like “hey i was stupid my bad” bc anything else would just feel like fan service. i keep saying maybe she’s secretly planning some major thing but uh the days are tickin and i think that was just me being rose colored and ttempting to salvage my respect for her
she’s taking her fans for granted. this is what it is. cause at this point there is NO way she and her team don’t know about how disappointed her fans of color (and others) are. there is NO way tree, tn and other people haven’t read a single post so far. they know. she knows. she doesn’t care. she thinks this will all blow over and be forgotten soon and she can just come back and act like nothing happened. and the thing is, the culture of this fandom gave her that sense of security. whenever someone voiced concern or criticism, they were shut down by others trying to shelter taylor. it was regarded as petty fandom drama. or other times when we talked about issues and mistakes she’s made (amazon, ticketmaster, among other things) but then promptly forgot about it/stopped posting the minute she released a new thing. we did that. we didn’t really hold her accountable and now she has this belief that whatever she does, or fails to do, we’ll just cry and moan for a few days and then it’ll be forgotten and we’ll still stick around.
well. hopefully not this time.

Angelica Ross on Cody Fern’s Instagram live broadcast - June 1, 2020
taylor claims she loves reading our posts about “what we find unjust” yet completely ignores them everytime? she never spoke up about her partnering with amazon. she never did anything regarding the ticket master chaos. and now THIS? this is on a different LEVEL of not okay. this isn’t concert confusion or partnership controversy. LIVES are on the line, taylor. what are you doing?
