you're highkey the first ever genuine triss fan i've come across, and i'm actually super curious abt your thoughts on cdpr's omission of the burn scar on her chest and her insecurity of wearing low necklines. cause i have my own thoughts, but i admittedly come from a biased stand point regarding her overall portrayal in tw3 cause as a woman myself you kinda get hyperaware abt how fem characters are treated when wanting to present them to a predominantly male fanbase. obv triss is not a yes-man to geralt and yen is not a nagging hag, but that's unfortunately how some people view them.
i want to hear ur thoughts!
it feels like a massive slap in the face
now her chest scar's aren't necessarily canon. we get no confirmation if she actually still has scarring on her chest in the books only the idea that there either is or was disfigurement there.
Bitchbert Lambert does mention markings on her chest so we can surmise that in the games its at least semi-canon that she had some scarring at least in the beginning.
in the witcher 1, her first outfit is revealing a lot of everything, however its her party dress that i think shows that you can have a 'revealing' outfit while still covering Triss's chest.
like her chest is covered (though im not sure if its lace at the top or not) but her whole back is out.
In witcher 2 (my favourite outfit) her chest, as well as the rest of her, is covered. obviously its is a more practical and travel outfit, but she still looks great in it.
then theres the witcher 3... and the dlc...
the whole plunging neckline is something that disconnects Triss from her book counterpart even more than the plot already does, and thats whats so upsetting about it.
Triss honestly could have had such a great arc in a post-books setting, because in the books she makes like every possible bad decision. but we don't get any of that, we don't get a proper conversation with Yennefer, we don't get Triss expressing her guilt and failure... all we get is her plight for the mages
and I think that supposed to be a way for her to redeem herself, but its so separated from the things she did, that it doesn't really matter.
in the Witcher 3 art-book they said that they wanted to show off Triss Merigolds 22 inch waist (cause she proud of that). So idk, maybe they could have had some stomach showing instead of her chest.
honestly her Witcher 3 design irks me in general, her hair is now a highlighter, and her face is greatly changed from the Witcher 2...
don't get me started on the dlc outfit... that feels like a punch in the face.
I wouldn't be against her no longer feeling the need to cover up - if it was actually brought up... (and maybe there was a marking or two on her chest)
admittedly... i'm a bit of a gooner, i've drawn Triss nude plenty of times... and i appreciate fanservice... when its accurate to the characters.
thank you for asking me! i'm glad someone wanted to hear my opinion
