Hi! Little introduction to my blog/about me. No purpose to this blog other than me just sharing whatever I want to. Probably just speaking to the void but that's fine with me.

About me✨

I'm a university student studying a bachelor of science majoring in chemistry & biology (also planning to take some space science if I can fit it into my already busy timetable).🧬🧪🪐

With my love for biology also comes a massive love for animals, insects and all things nature (the forest is my happy place).🌿

I've had a life long love of science and will happily yap about it.

Alongside being a science nerd I also am a lover of the arts.

I do some photography, drawing & painting in my free time, I can play the saxophone (trying to learn piano & guitar, but trying to learn an instrument alongside being a full time uni student is slow going), acting & dance. 🎨📸🎷🎭

I also absolutely love film, and have been involved with making some short films. (If I wasn't doing science I'd be doing something in the film industry)🎬

I almost always have a book on the go and am constantly listening to music.📚

I'm also chronically ill & disabled. I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user, and have a surgical J-tube & NG tube.🌻

I got my new wheelchair last week (tilite zra) and I just wanted to make a little appreciation post because it's made such a big improvement to my quality of life.

I started this process over a year ago through the public system, and after waiting for referrals, funding approvals etc it finally happened.

My previous wheelchair I had for 5 years and it was a custom folding manual chair (tilite aero x). While it was well fitted and suited to my needs when I first got it, they've changed significantly over the years and so it no longer supported me in the best way.

My new chair is lighter, the backrest is better for me, and just generally I feel so much more comfortable and free in my new chair.

Even small things like being able stand, or put some weight through your legs to transfer instead of having to completely pull yourself across or rely on someone to move you across.

Or for ambulatory wheelchair users who are part time in particular or still have a decent amount of mobility, being able to stand from your chair to navigate innaccessibility or having the option to walk when needed, changes a lot, or evacuating in an emergency as another example, looks very different for you than it does someone who is non-ambulatory or even more so, someone who is fully reliant on carers for support.

Accessibility as an entire necessity changes when you are non-ambulatory, and ambulatory wheelchair users need to acknowledge their privilege AND allow for leadership of the most impacted when it comes to conversations about accessibility.

I hate exams, I don't think they're the best way of assessing students knowledge, and not having access to even something like a notes sheet is frustrating because when in reality will you ever not have access to notes?

Don't get me started on when they put in random questions that weren't in any of the practice papers...

Anyway I'm free from exams for a few months until finals 🙌
