But no, that isn’t enough for Outlander, thanks to author Diana Gabaldon…When you multiply that Claire is a well-educated, bilingual orphan raised by a globe-trotting archaeologist, who falls in passionate love with one man while in a loving marriage to another, who knows potentially life-saving and sometimes life-ending medicinal qualities of plants, who makes trusted friends and mortal enemies with equal aplomb, not to mention being an accidental time-traveler bent on changing history; you have someone, the likes of whom we have never seen before on television. She is an incredibly layered and complex person who is always interesting to watch.
