So, I don’t know if anyone will read this since the show has now ended. In fact, I don’t know how much people read what I post, period. Either way, I needed to take some time to process what I was feeling about New Girl ending. I’d probably need to really rewatch the finale to work through it fully, but I can’t really bring myself to do that yet. Therefore, here’s what I came up with so far:
- The hallway fight with Russell
- Cece (Hannah) legit crying about her and Winston’s mess arounds
- One last round of True American, with another flash forward
- Return of the valet cards
- Schmidt and Nick scenes (always have been my second favorite couple after Nick and Jess)
- Ally’s exclusion from the finale because I was and should have been the core cast #sorrynotsorry
- The cast posting Instagram shout outs and memories, making me believe they just might miss the show almost as much as us. ALMOST.
- Aly giving birth during the wedding
- They should have run into Dr. Sam at the hospital, not the cat’s funeral
- The wedding itself (sorry, but Ness fans should NOT feel satisfied from watching that!}
- Russell saying he loves Jess and that she belongs with him
- HOW the valet cards returned and WHAT they said. What was that crap??
- The absence of Nick’s family (and technically Jess’s sister) at the wedding
- The addition of Ruth. I mean she’s cute and all, but I’d rather have seen more of the cast with so few episodes
- The whole “3 years into the future” theme of this season had me feeling it was unnecessary going in, and I feel the same way now that it’s over.
- High pitched delivery Jess. This one is sort of hard to explain, but Zooey’s portrayal of Jess became much more cartoonish these last few seasons. I don’t blame her, I just miss old Jess and now I always will.
- The inexplicable lack of meaningful Nick and Jess interaction since season 3 that I’ll probably never understand til the day I die.
