marinette is a girl who has always suffered from bullying by chloe, she also encouraged more people to bully marinette, most of marinette’s friends helped chloe before alya was in school (max, alix, sabrina, kim, etc).

it has been implied in the series, that chloe’s bullying made her have a super low self-esteem, and because of that she was someone with very few friends. you will say that her parents are super loving, which yes, they’re, but they also ignored that marinette was a victim of bullying, and the bullying she was getting from chloe/sabrina was massive.

chloe made marinette a very insecure girl, shown in season 1 in the "origins" episodes. she had a very pessimistic perspective, and she wasn’t sure of being ladybug since she thought she would ruin everything, thanks to the fact that she began to hang out with people like her (alya) and being ladybug helped her a lot, she saw how people appreciated her for the first time, that's why she finally raised her voice to chloe in origins 2.

the problems that she had in the first season returned in season 3 and 4 (specifically in s4), she has a lot of mental breakdowns, when she is marinette but also when she is ladybug. she is no longer as sure of herself as before, she no longer believes in herself.

marinette has become a girl who doesn’t trust people much, chloe sided with hawk moth at the end of season 3, it took a lot of work to tell someone that she is ladybug, she witnessed chat blanc, she got sexually assaulted by felix (and by chat noir/adrien too, he tried to kiss her without her consent many times), lila has gotten her into a lot of trouble, which has caused her to be almost expelled from school. i don't understand how people say that lila's lies are not offensive ... marinette's antis pretend as if all that doesn’t cause trauma.

edit 1: also, everything that happened in the season 4 finale? that just made everything worse for marinette.

edit 2: and let’s not even start with the season 5 finale, the london special and s6 .. please give this girl a break!

she is also a person who has a lot of stress and has showed symptoms of anxiety:

1. inability to stop thinking about current worry.

2. increased heart rate / slurred speech / hyperventilation.

3. anxious obsessions / hyper fixation.

4. feeling nervous, restless, or tense.

i understand why fans believe marinette is a mary sue, but let's remember something:

- chloe is popular while being rude, she’s not even fake like lila

- adrien has many occupations but has a lot of time to be chat noir

- hawk moth is a criminal, why the police doesn’t investigate him?
