i mean this is way more fun for me personally because now which atp player wins is up in the air but these conditions are too much. i do think there’s a level of attrition that is interesting to watch and part of the game but this isn’t sustainable. but for me yes ngl it’s gonna be more fun.

tennis is such a great conduit for this kind of story because it's such an essentially lonely sport, one that very easily isolates children from their family and friends as they travel the world with their coach. and between father and child it's something that potentially separates them from other family members, and justifies a relationship entirely apart from normal everyday family life. a father-coach is never just a father and never just a coach, that duality also works really well. the constant travelling too - nowheres and no-times, a sort of unreality that allows for it.

it's been the same story since foreverrr now i just need him to be a real dad coach and lolita a real girl champion
