my brain aint working tn but i will be around tomorrow bc i wanna make edits :)
it's like his inner monologue shuts down, unable to compute what is happening for a brief moment. steve.exe has stopped working. what an unexpected gift to be handed, no open channel for overthinking available when his senses are overloaded like this. steve rolls over to stare at the ceiling again.
❛ you mean a line between friends and more than friends? ❜ is what spills out into the otherwise quiet bedroom, no filter to speak of as steve attempts to clarify what robin means, ❛ yeah, it makes sense... but what's so bad about that? ❜
"mhm.." she confirms. robin has lost count of the times she's naturally felt a pull toward him. to just grab his hand, to lean on his shoulder more than she should, to stay by him in general. eyebrows crinkle and she exhales again.
"i just don't want to ruin anything. you're like one of the closest people i have in my life right now."

BUZZ ] - our muses are drinking and / or getting high on a rooftop. (rich misses his wife)
@gloomtovvn
her face is warm as the alcohol turns her cheeks pink. they're sitting on their makeshift picnic area with a throw blanket draped over her shoulders. rich's hoodie is baggy, skinny jeans cling to her legs and there is sharpie written initials on her converse.
RR <3
robin stands in one quick motion, briefly abandoning her drink and almost knocking it over while she does so. clearly a little tipsy, she extends her hand to rich with a silly grin.
"dance with me, the breeze will be our music."

too comfortable. as if people being comfortable around him isn't the highest form of compliment to steve. he used to hate to admit it when he was younger, but he needs people more than he's ever let on. to have someone feel safe enough to let their guard down in his presence and not be self conscious is more than steve thinks he deserves, but he welcomes it with open arms each time it occurs.
❛ why is that a bad thing? ❜ steve inquires, knowing he's treading into complicated waters. he doesn't want to spook her, but honesty is all he has left. ❛ i'm comfortable with you. ❜
oh, boy. steve has left a mark on her, more than any friend in her life thus far in her existence. she can feel the heat creeping up her neck so she's grateful that it's dark in her room. the only light seeming to leak into the room is from a street lamp outside her bedroom window.
"i know." she chomps down harder and opens her mouth again. her voice is soft with a hint of scared, "you make me feel safe.. and i feel like sometimes i'm in danger of blurring a line with you. does that make sense?"
yelling about steve harrington
❝ for some reason i thought the jocks would be hotter. i feel like i'm in amish country. like ... what time do we get to churn some butter? ❞ julian inquires just loudly enough for robin to hear, over the impassioned monologue eddie is giving at his other side to shane. he tunes into a snippet of it and rolls his eyes. of course it's about dungeons & dragons.
resting his head on robin's shoulder, julian grins wickedly at the mention of punching jason carver. he thinks that maybe, if heaven exists, god will show a replay of that moment and then set off a trapdoor underneath julian's feet. totally worth it. it had been a clean punch; effective and precise, with a full set of rings on the offending hand. julian remembers jason having bruises on his throat for weeks.
❝ if he keeps pissing me off it'll happen sooner than you think. ❞ he spots chrissy sitting with the other cheerleaders and gives her a small wave, ignoring the daggers jason is now shooting at him. julian turns his attention back to robin. ❝ i say we still dip when no one's looking and go get milkshakes. ❞
jocks were never her thing (well, anyone for that matter) until she met a certain someone but he's fallen out of that stereotype. a can of worms for another time. she's not sure if she wants anyone's advice on that situation right now. robin snorts and then her eyes perk up at the mention of milkshakes. lunch was right after this and anything that's not from the cafeteria sounds delicious. "we could, mr. mundy looks preoccupied." robin notes, capping her pen and putting it in her pocket.
the sports teams are dispersing into their designated seats on the benches now so it's a perfect moment to get up and slip out the side door. robin stands, crouched a bit and tugging at julian to signal him to follow her through the cheering crowd once whatever stupid speech was said and done. "go, go, go, he's not looking!"
❛ i mean, i'm fine. really! i get overheated sometimes even in my own bed. ❜ there's a nervous edge to his tone, and steve clears his throat in the fear that his voice might crack if he keeps going. it's already jumped up a half-octave in the midst of trying to keep it sounding casual.
steve shakes his head, then thinks better of it. can robin even see him in the current darkness? unlikely. he hates that he's being forced to confront something he's been running from given their newfound circumstances. danger has long since loomed over their dynamic, increasing each time they get close to becoming anything. perhaps this is a sign from the universe, but steve isn't too sure he believes in all that. he clears his throat again, then decides to be honest.
❛ wasn't weird until you kinda acted like i stink or something. ❜ which steve knows isn't true, okay? he even sniffed his armpit just to make sure after rolling away to face the wall.
perhaps she overdid it. a small laugh almost escapes her as she hears his assumption but it's stifled. robin shakes her head in the dark. "sorry.... you don't stink. i just.. i-" she pauses, and thinks for a second before continuing. "i'm scared that i'd get.. too comfortable.. with you." exhale. man, that might've been a little too real to say but it's out in the air now.
her heart kicks into the motion as the silence follows her last word. maybe she revealed herself too much. she'll own it now by keeping her mouth shut and chomping down on her lip in fear.
a piercing studio that smells like disinfectant.
@okoden
robin is sitting in a leather chair positioned under some framed prints. the models in the pictures are all showcasing piercings, assuming it's the work of the owner of the studio they're in right now. she leans over to julian with her nose wrinkled, "i feel like we're in hannibal lector's basement. are you sure he's just gonna pierce you?"
eyes look around more, metal shelves and other pieces of furniture to further highlight the "clean" or "chrome" aesthetic of the place makes her shiver again. robin knows the reason for going to a private studio is to avoid going to a more regular, walk-in place where he could easily be spotted and inconvenience their time together.
