What a crazy story. The mangled fruit.   The red dust.   The ferris wheel lying on its side. The ending without the ending. Do it again, but this time with more feeling.     This time like the ambulance’s    sad crawl   through the streets, the siren turned off. This time like the POP POP POP of the toy guns as the kids     ride into battle.       Say: Bamboozled.   Say it louder. Say: “I didn’t ask for this.” and   “You can have it all back.       Especially the body.      Especially the heart like a bruised orange. I didn’t want to be bad,   but you made me bad.”  You toss a rock over the edge of the world    and the universe yells back,       “That hurt.”       Says, “What have I ever done to you?” You fidgety thing. You sleepless animal. Curl    into a cannonball   and throw yourself into     the sky, explode so the    universe knows  you’re here and willing to destroy.   No wait, slow down. Not everything is war.    You tried too hard    to defend yourself.   You thought the world was brutal and it     turned you brutal.   You unlucky animal. You poor savage thing,  you brought guns       to a fist fight.
