Logan was going out of his mind after reading William's text. It always came back to William fucking Huntzberger. Logan had never liked him, that was no secret. In fact, if he could hate anybody... it would be William. After re-reading the text again, Logan decided they did hate him. Isobel could do anything she wanted, of course she could. And she could be close with whoever too but why did it have to be William? Logan had always known that his poison would eventually leak out into their lives. Maybe they should have done something to protect them all before it was too late. Logan could hardly breath every second it took to reach Isobel's door. He's been here a thousand times before, muscle memory in every footstep, but tonight he was running to her.
Before William's text came through, he'd already called it a night. He'd been back home catching up on paperwork to help his dad. Lexa was at home with Ellen, safe and happy, and they were doing everything they could to stay distracted. Logan had been so focused on getting here, he hadn't even considered the consequences. He hadn't even thought about if his very broken heart could handle this. He swallowed the feeling back as he pounded and pounded on Isobel's door until she eventually opened up.
And he could finally breathe again. Had he been shouting her name already? He couldn't remember, he was so relieved to see her standing there. "Isobel... Are you okay? Are you hurt?" @icy-isobel
Isobel had put on the dress. For almost an hour, she had sat on the edge of her bed willing herself to get up and go to the party in the Hamptons–hair done, make up flawless–but why was she trying? Either Logan would be there or they wouldn't and she wasn't sure which scenario would be the easiest to deal with. Ceren and Jessica might be there, but things hadn't been the same with them and, honestly, she was beginning to lose hope that they ever would be. The most important people in her whole world were gone and it was her own damn fault, so why would she want to go to a damn party?
Within minutes, Isobel was back in her pyjamas with a tub of ice cream in her hands as she cycled through her favourite Hallmark Christmas movies. All night, she did her best to not care when each gossip blast pinged on her phone, but then she saw Logan's name... beside Scarlett Vandervort's. Taking a deep breath, she finally switched off her phone, followed by the tv, and proceeded to go to bed. Logan could do whatever they wanted and it wasn't her business anymore. Let it be Alex's problem that their future children wouldn't know whether to call Lexa sister or cousin.
It was maybe only a couple of hours later when she was abruptly awoken to the sound of banging at her door. Wiping away the residual tears that she would never admit to, Isobel got out of bed, grabbing her dressing gown on the way to the door, only stopping when his voice called her name. 'Why does he sound terrified?'. No longer hesitant, she unlocked and opened the door, completely unprepared for the air to be knocked from her lungs as she gazed up at him. "Am I hurt?" The confusion was clear on her face as she tried to piece together what was going on. It didn't seem like they were asking about her emotional state. "Logan... I'm fine. I–... What are you doing here?"
