It had been a very busy couple of weeks. You had spent hours upon hours learning every detail of the music video, understanding the entire concept behind it, and figuring out exactly what your role was going to be.
Every movement, every shot, every small detail had been explained to you until you felt like you could picture the entire video playing out before it even happened.
Through all of it, Gunner had been right by your side.
He made the entire process feel so much less overwhelming than it probably should have been. Instead of feeling like another stressful responsibility, it almost felt like another excuse for the two of you to spend more time together.
Between rehearsals, planning, and the endless conversations about how everything was supposed to come together, it felt less like work and more like another memory being added to the collection of moments you had spent with him.
Now, you sat in the backseat of your car on the way to the set, your leg bouncing up and down without you even realizing it. The movement had become almost automatic, a physical reaction to the nerves you were trying your hardest to ignore.
You stared out the window, watching the buildings and trees blur past you, feeling like you had been looking at the same view for hours even though the drive hadn’t been nearly that long.
You weren’t entirely sure why you were so nervous.
Or maybe you did know, and you just weren’t willing to admit it to yourself yet.
Gunner was the most important person in your life. The one person you trusted completely, the person who had been there through every version of yourself. He had seen you at your best and your worst, knew your habits better than anyone, and somehow always knew exactly what you needed before you even had to ask.
These past few months, the two of you had become closer than you had ever been before. Closer in a way that felt impossible because you had always been close. Gunner had always been your person, the one constant you could rely on no matter what.
But lately, there had been something different.
Something hanging between the two of you that neither of you ever acknowledged.
A certain kind of tension that never seemed to disappear.
The way you and Gunner acted around each other had always felt completely normal. The teasing, the constant touches, the way you naturally gravitated towards each other without even thinking about it — that was just who you were. That was your friendship. It was something you had never questioned because you never thought there would be a reason to.
You didn’t want it to change.
You couldn’t imagine your life changing.
But every once in a while, there were moments where you caught yourself noticing things differently. Moments where the way he looked at you lingered a little longer than usual, or the way your heart reacted to something as simple as his hand brushing against yours felt like something you couldn’t explain.
Slowly, you had started realizing that maybe something was changing.
You just didn’t know what that meant yet.
The car eventually pulled into the parking spot outside the building, snapping you out of your thoughts. You took a deep breath, pushing everything else away as you reached for your purse.
“Thank you,” you said softly to your driver before stepping out.
You swung your purse over your shoulder and made your way towards the building, immediately pulling out your phone to text Gunner as you walked inside. Your fingers moved quickly across the screen, letting him know you were there as you followed the signs directing you towards the set.
The hallway was filled with movement, people rushing around with equipment, talking through last-minute details, and preparing everything for the shoot. You tried not to let yourself feel overwhelmed by it, reminding yourself that you had been preparing for this.
You knew what you were doing.
That alone made everything easier.
Once you reached the backstage door, you carefully pushed it open, stepping inside.
Gunner was sitting on the couch, his legs spread apart as he looked down at his phone, completely absorbed in whatever he was doing. But almost as if he could feel your presence, his head lifted immediately.
The second his eyes landed on you, a soft smirk spread across his lips.
He stood up and made his way over, wrapping an arm around your shoulders like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Hey girl, you ready for today?”
You hummed softly, trying to sound more confident than you actually felt.
“As ready as I can be I guess.”
You followed the words with a small laugh, hoping you could play off your anxiety, but the look on Gunner’s face told you instantly that he wasn’t buying it.
He could read you better than anyone.
That was one of the things you loved about him. He always noticed, but he never forced you to talk before you were ready.
Eventually, the room began filling up as stylists, makeup artists, and everyone else involved in the shoot started arriving. The calm moment between the two of you disappeared into the chaos as everyone began preparing you both.
Even with people working around you, you and Gunner stayed exactly the same.
You joked, laughed, and kept talking throughout the entire process, completely being yourselves despite the annoyed looks you occasionally received from the people trying to focus on their work.
Neither of you could seem to help it.
That was just how you were together.
Gunner finished getting ready before you did, so instead of leaving, he moved his chair closer to yours while the makeup artist finished up your look.
You noticed him watching from the corner of your eye, but you didn’t say anything at first.
He was quiet, his attention completely focused on you.
When the makeup artist started working on your lips, carefully outlining them with lip liner, Gunner watched every single movement with an intensity that made you glance over at him.
A slightly menacing look covered his face, like he was debating something in his head.
Then, after clearly fighting with himself over whether he should say it or not, he finally spoke.
“Getting those lips ready for me.”
Your eyes immediately darted over to him.
You rolled them before reaching out and lightly hitting his chest with your arm.
He only laughed, but his eyes never left your face.
But the longer he stared, the softer his expression became, the teasing look fading into something you couldn’t quite place.
You tilted your head slightly at him as the makeup artist finished, a small giggle escaping your lips.
He blinked a few times, almost like he had completely forgotten where he was.
“My bad, zoned out I guess.”
He looked away quickly, and for a second you caught the expression on his face.
Like there was something on his mind.
Something he wanted to say but didn’t know how.
Before you could question it, he cleared his throat and stood from his chair.
You looked up at him from your seat and nodded.
Standing up, you followed him towards the set, your hands brushing against each other as you walked.
Your job for the video was relatively simple, and in a way, it almost felt familiar. It reminded you of modeling, of being in front of a camera and allowing yourself to fall into the moment rather than overthinking every single movement.
You listened carefully to every instruction called out by the director, following each adjustment and every small change they asked of you, trusting that everything would come together the way it was supposed to.
For the scenes you weren’t needed in, you stayed close by Gunner.
You found yourself watching him more than you meant to.
There was something almost surreal about seeing him in that environment, surrounded by people who were all there because they believed in him and the vision he had created.
You watched the way his eyebrows would furrow whenever he made a mistake, the way he would immediately focus harder instead of letting frustration take over, and the way he completely threw himself into every single part of the video.
The concentration on his face, the confidence in his movements, the way he carried himself when he knew exactly what he wanted — it all made your lips curl into a small smile without you even realizing it.
You had watched him grow into this for years.
For so long, this had only been a dream.
Something he talked about late at night, something he would get excited about when he imagined what his future could look like. You remembered all the moments where he would talk about where he wanted to be, the things he wanted to accomplish, and the person he wanted to become.
And now he was standing right in front of you, living it.
He had become so much bigger than either of you ever expected.
But somehow, despite everything changing around him, he was still Gunner.
Still the same person who annoyed you just to make you laugh, the same person who knew when you were upset before you even said anything, the same person who somehow always found his way back to your side no matter where you were.
That was what made everything feel so confusing.
Because no matter how much changed, the one thing you never wanted to lose was him.
For the final scene, you stood off to the side of the set, your foot tapping lightly against the floor as you watched the crew prepare everything.
And then the reason for all of your anxiety finally arrived.
It shouldn’t have been a big deal.
At least, that was what you kept telling yourself.
It was just another scene. Just another part of the video. Something you both knew was coming.
Gunner didn’t seem nervous.
If anything, he seemed completely fine, moving around the set like nothing about the moment bothered him.
And that somehow made you even more confused.
Because why was your heart beating so hard that it felt like it was trying to break through your chest?
Why did such a simple scene feel like it carried so much more weight than it should have?
You knew Gunner, you trusted him.
You had been close to him your entire life.
So why did the thought of his lips against yours suddenly feel like something that could completely change everything?
The director finally called you over, and you took a slow, steady breath before stepping onto the set.
You tried to push every thought away.
Tried to remind yourself that this was only for the video.
You slowly lowered yourself onto the floor, the camera following your movements as you crawled towards where he laid on the floor. The low hum of the music filled the space around you, becoming the only thing loud enough to distract you from the thoughts racing through your head.
Then your eyes met Gunner’s.
And suddenly, everything else disappeared.
The people around you, the cameras, the lights, the entire set faded into the background as you focused only on him.
He lip synced the lyrics quietly into the camera as your hands moved through his hair, your fingers brushing through the strands while you tried to focus on the scene instead of the overwhelming feeling building in your chest.
And then the song began coming to an end.
You leaned down slowly, your lips hovering just above his for a brief moment.
A moment that felt much longer than it actually was.
His blue eyes stared directly into yours, and for a second, neither of you moved.
It felt like there was something being said between the two of you without either of you actually speaking.
Then your lips connected.
His body jerked forward slightly at the contact, almost like he hadn’t expected how real it would feel, before he immediately melted into the kiss.
A sharp breath escaped you.
Your entire body felt like it had caught fire.
Your lips began moving together naturally, almost like they already knew what to do, and you fought against the instinct to deepen it, reminding yourself that there were cameras around you and that this wasn’t supposed to mean anything.
But it was impossible not to feel it.
His lips were soft and warm against yours, and the closeness between you made your entire body react in a way you couldn’t ignore.
For a few seconds, everything felt completely effortless.
“Uh, cut! You’re done guys.”
The director’s voice broke through the moment.
You pulled away quickly, your eyes widening as reality came rushing back.
Your first instinct was to look at Gunner.
To search his face for some kind of reaction, some sign that he felt the same strange shift you did, some indication that maybe you weren’t the only one who noticed how different that felt.
But before you could understand anything, the moment was gone.
You stumbled slightly as you stood up, swallowing harshly while Gunner followed and rose to his feet.
Almost immediately, everyone from the shoot began gathering around the two of you.
Compliments filled the room, people praising the chemistry between you both, telling you how well the scene came together and how natural it looked on camera.
You nodded along, offering small smiles as everyone spoke, but it felt like you were barely there.
Like your body was moving on its own while your mind was stuck somewhere else entirely.
Because all you could think about was him.
And the fact that, for the first time, you couldn’t convince yourself that everything between you and Gunner was exactly the same.
You needed a moment away.
Away from the cameras, away from the people congratulating you, away from the constant reminder of what had just happened.
Because the longer you stood there pretending everything was normal, the harder it became to actually convince yourself that it was.
You quickly made your way off the set and back towards the backstage area, needing the familiar quiet of somewhere away from everyone else. Your hands moved almost automatically as you began gathering your things, stuffing items into your purse with one hand while using the other to pull out your phone and request a car.
You kept your eyes down, focusing on anything other than the thoughts running through your mind.
The way his body reacted the second your lips touched.
The way his eyes looked at you before it happened.
The way, for just a moment, it felt like neither of you were pretending.
You squeezed your lips together, trying to push the thoughts away before they became something you couldn’t control.
You weren’t supposed to be thinking about it like that.
You weren’t supposed to be feeling anything different.
Gunner was your best friend and that was all he was supposed to be.
A familiar presence behind you pulled you out of your thoughts.
You froze slightly before turning around.
Gunner stood there, and immediately your heart sank a little.
His hair was slightly messy from lying on the floor during the scene, strands falling out of place in a way that made him look less like the confident person everyone else had been watching on set and more like the Gunner you knew.
The Gunner who showed up at your door whenever he needed you, who sat with you for hours doing absolutely nothing, the Gunner who somehow always felt like home.
And then you noticed his lips.
They were still slightly wet from your gloss.
Your stomach twisted and you quickly looked away.
You turned back towards your bag, pretending you were more focused on what you were doing than the fact that he was standing right there.
You squeezed your eyes shut for a moment, letting out a small breath before answering.
The response came out higher than you intended, and you immediately knew he noticed.
You swung your bag over your shoulder and turned back towards him, forcing yourself to look normal.
Gunner nodded slowly, his eyes staying on you.
“Alright, can I come back with you?”
Your mouth opened before you could answer, but the words caught in your throat.
Because you wanted to say yes, of course you wanted to say yes — you always wanted him around.
But right now, after everything that had happened, after feeling the way you did when he kissed you, you didn’t trust yourself to be around him without everything becoming even more confusing.
You closed your mouth again, looking away.
And that small action was enough for Gunner’s expression to change immediately.
The teasing confidence he usually carried faded, replaced by something more uncertain.
Something that made your chest tighten.
His voice was softer now as he stepped closer.
You shook your head quickly, forcing a smile onto your face even though you knew he could see right through it.
“Nothing, Gun, I’m fine.”
You tried to make it sound convincing enough for yourself to believe it aswell.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, I just need to get some sleep. It’s been a long day.”
For a moment, he just stared at you.
And the small change in his face hurt more than you expected.
His expression fell slightly, almost like he was trying to hide the disappointment but couldn’t.
He paused, glancing down briefly before looking back at you.
You gave him one last forced smile, hoping it looked more real than it felt.
Then you turned on your heels and walked away before you could change your mind.
You moved quickly through the building, not allowing yourself to look back.
Because if you looked back and saw him standing there, watching you leave, you weren’t sure you would be able to keep going.
Once you reached your car and climbed inside, the door closing behind you felt heavier than it should have.
The second you were alone, you dropped your bag beside you and immediately covered your face with your hands.
Your emotions hit all at once.
Everything you had been trying to ignore came rushing forward, and suddenly you couldn’t stop replaying the last thirty minutes over and over again.
The way your body responded before your mind could even catch up.
You shook your head, trying desperately to make sense of it as the car pulled away.
You couldn’t like Gunner.
Your entire life, you had spent convincing everyone around you that the two of you were just friends. That the closeness between you meant nothing more than years of knowing each other, years of being comfortable, years of being there for one another.
How could you suddenly turn around and change everything?
How could you risk the one relationship you knew you couldn’t live without?
Losing Gunner wasn’t something you could even imagine.
There was no version of your life where he wasn’t there.
There was no you without Gunner.
You stared out the window as the trees passed by, your reflection faintly visible in the glass.
You tried to push the thoughts away, but realization after realization kept hitting you.
The way you missed him when he wasn’t around.
The way his opinion mattered more than anyone else’s.
The way your entire mood could change just because he smiled at you.
Maybe you had known for longer than you wanted to admit.
Maybe you had just been too afraid to call it what it was.
A small ache formed in your chest as you blinked rapidly, trying to keep the emotions from overwhelming you.
But you couldn’t ignore it anymore.
And you didn’t know how to go back.
By the time you finally arrived at your apartment, you felt completely exhausted.
Not just from the long day itself, from the endless hours under bright lights, from having to constantly be aware of every movement and every expression while cameras followed your every step, but from the emotional weight that had been sitting heavily in your chest since the moment your lips touched his.
You had spent the entire drive trying to convince yourself that it wasn’t a big deal.
That Gunner was still Gunner and you were still you, and one moment couldn’t possibly change something that had been built over years of friendship, trust, and knowing each other better than anyone else ever could.
But every time you tried to push it away, your mind only brought you back to it.
You hated how much it affected you.
You hated how easily one moment could make everything you had always been so certain about suddenly feel fragile.
The door closed heavily behind you as you stepped into your apartment, the familiar silence immediately surrounding you.
For a few seconds, you didn’t move.
You just stood there with your hand still resting on the doorknob, staring ahead as your mind continued replaying every second of the night over and over again.
Eventually, your grip loosened, and your purse slipped from your shoulder, falling onto the floor beside you.
You didn’t even bother picking it up.
Normally, you would have put everything away, cleaned up your space, followed your usual routine, and found some kind of comfort in the familiarity of your night.
But tonight felt different.
Tonight, everything was different.
You moved through your apartment almost on autopilot, your body doing the things it knew it needed to do while your mind remained somewhere else entirely.
You showered, hoping the warm water would calm the overwhelming thoughts that refused to quiet down.
You washed your face, changed into a cute pair of pajamas, and tried to convince yourself that maybe once you were comfortable, once you were alone, once everything finally settled down, you would feel normal again.
But even as you sat at your kitchen counter, surrounded by the quiet of your apartment, the confusion never left.
Because no matter how much you tried to distract yourself, every thought somehow led back to him.
The person you had spent years convincing yourself you would never see any other way.
And yet, your body remembered him differently now.
Your mind replayed the kiss with a level of detail that made your chest tighten, almost as if it was trying to force you to acknowledge something you had spent so long avoiding.
The feeling of his lips against yours.
The warmth of him being that close.
The way his body moved towards yours instinctively, like he had been waiting for that moment just as much as you had.
The feeling of his hair brushing softly against your cheek.
The tiny smile you felt against his lips when you first leaned in.
You covered your face with your hands, letting out a frustrated groan as you tried to physically push the thoughts away.
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
You weren’t supposed to look at Gunner and feel your entire body react like this.
You weren’t supposed to crave another moment like that when the first one had already terrified you enough.
You reached for your phone, unlocking it almost without thinking.
A part of you was expecting something.
Anything that told you he was thinking about you the way you were thinking about him.
The empty screen stared back at you, and even though you knew it shouldn’t have mattered, even though you knew you were letting your thoughts get ahead of reality, a sudden wave of panic settled over you.
What if he saw the way you looked at him differently now? And what if the kiss changed everything for him too, but not in the way you wanted it to?
Your mind began creating every possible outcome, each one worse than the last.
What if he was uncomfortable?
What if he thought you had ruined the friendship?
What if he decided that keeping his distance was easier than dealing with whatever this was?
The thought alone made your chest ache.
Because you could handle almost anything, like losing friends or things changing.
But you couldn’t handle losing Gunner.
Not the person who had become such a permanent part of your life that imagining your future without him felt impossible.
A tear slipped down your cheek before you even realized you were crying.
You quickly wiped it away, shaking your head as if you could stop the emotions from taking over if you just refused to acknowledge them.
You had spent so long pretending that the only thing between you and Gunner was friendship, and now you were terrified that even admitting you felt something more could destroy the one thing you had always counted on.
A soft knock suddenly echoed through the apartment.
For a moment, you wondered if you had imagined it, if your mind was just searching for something to interrupt the spiral you had trapped yourself in.
Your heart immediately started pounding.
You quickly wiped beneath your eyes, trying to erase any evidence that you had been crying before slowly standing from the counter.
You walked towards the door, every step feeling heavier than it should have.
Your hand hovered over the doorknob as a strange feeling settled over you.
A feeling that somehow, before you even opened the door, you already knew who was standing on the other side.
You slowly turned the handle and pulled it open.
Gunner stood there and for a second, neither of you moved.
He was standing with his head slightly lowered, his hair messier than before, still wearing the same clothes from the shoot as if he hadn’t even thought about changing.
But it wasn’t his appearance that caught your attention.
It was the way he looked like he had been carrying something too heavy for too long, his shoulders seemed tense.
His eyes lifted towards yours and you immediately noticed they were bloodshot.
The worry in your voice came naturally as you stepped aside and pulled him into the apartment without waiting for an explanation.
You closed the door behind him, immediately turning back towards him and searching his face for some kind of answer.
But he wouldn’t look at you.
His eyes dropped towards the floor, and somehow that scared you more than if he had been angry.
Because Gunner always looked at you, no matter what.
You stepped closer, gently placing your hands against his face and guiding him to look at you.
Your voice was firm, but there was no harshness behind it.
Only the need to understand what was hurting him.
Slowly, his eyes lifted to meet yours and for a moment, he just stared at you.
And the silence between you felt heavier than anything either of you could have said.
Then finally, his voice broke through. “Why did you leave so fast?”
His voice was rough, almost scratchy, and the sound of it made your chest tighten because you could hear the emotion he was trying so hard to hide.
Your eyes widened slightly and your body went still.
You didn’t even know what you were trying to say, suddenly every excuse you had prepared disappeared.
Gunner shook his head softly. “Tell me the truth y/n.”
His eyes never left yours.
And that was what made it impossible to lie.
Everyone else might have accepted the excuse that you were tired, that it had been a long day, that you just needed sleep.
“Gunner, I didn’t mean anything by it. I can’t believe it upset you this much.”
The second the words left your mouth, something changed in his expression.
A small scoff escaped him, not because he was amused, but because he couldn’t believe you were pretending not to understand.
Your eyebrows furrowed immediately, confusion and fear mixing together.
“What? What are you saying?”
For a moment, Gunner just looked at you.
Like he was trying to understand how you could possibly not see what had been right in front of you.
Then his hands moved, covering yours where they rested against his face before slowly bringing them down between you.
His fingers intertwined with yours, holding onto you like he was afraid that if he let go, you would disappear.
“You think I don’t know it had to do with the kiss?”
And before you could respond, he stepped closer.
Until your back met the wall beside the door.
Your skin prickled at the closeness, your heart racing as every emotion you had been trying to bury came rushing back all at once.
His voice lowered, almost like he was afraid that saying it too loudly would somehow break the moment.
Your voice came out softer than you intended, your thumb moving gently across his hand without even realizing you were doing it.
Gunner shook his head, his expression filled with so much emotion that it made your chest ache.
“Gunner… listen, I don’t wanna ruin our friendship.” Your voice trembled slightly as you looked at him.
“I don’t know why I reacted like that, I’m sorry.”
You swallowed, trying to keep yourself together. “I can’t lose you over this.”
The only truth that mattered.
Losing Gunner had always been the one thing you were never prepared for.
For a moment, neither of you moved.
The room felt impossibly quiet despite the fact that your heart was beating so loudly you were convinced he could hear it. His hands were still wrapped around yours, his fingers intertwined with yours as if he was holding onto the only thing keeping him grounded, and you could see the conflict written all over his face.
Gunner had always been so sure of himself.
He was confident, playful, and never seemed afraid to say exactly what was on his mind. He could walk into any room and make people notice him without even trying, could joke around through almost anything, and somehow always knew how to make you feel better when you were struggling.
But standing in front of you now, he looked different. Like this was the one thing in the world that actually scared him.
Your heart tightened at the realization.
Because Gunner wasn’t afraid of the conversation.
He was afraid of losing you, and that hurt even more.
His eyes searched yours for a moment before he finally let out a shaky breath. His forehead lowered until it rested gently against yours, the movement so familiar and yet somehow completely different now.
Your name left his lips like it carried every emotion he had been holding back.
You stayed completely still, afraid that even the smallest movement would interrupt whatever he was trying to say.
But they hit you harder than anything else could have.
Your eyes immediately filled with tears, your breath catching as you stared at him.
Because you knew what he meant, you knew the way he had always told you he loved you.
You knew the casual “I love you” that came after a joke, after a long night together, after one of you did something sweet for the other.
But this was different — this was a confession.
A truth that had been waiting years to be spoken.
A tear slipped down your cheek as you swallowed, your voice barely above a whisper.
The second the words left your mouth, something changed.
Not in the way you expected.
Instead of relief crossing his face, instead of the smile you thought you would see, Gunner let out a frustrated breath and took a small step back.
Your hands slowly disconnected.
The tiny bit of distance hurt more than you expected.
“No, y/n.” His voice was softer now, but there was an ache behind it.
Your heart stopped and it felt like you forgot how to breathe.
Gunner looked away briefly, running a hand over his face like he was trying to collect his thoughts, trying to find the words that could possibly explain something he had been feeling for so long.
His voice cracked slightly. “I think I always have been.”
Your eyes burned as more tears gathered.
Because suddenly every little moment you had brushed off, every time you questioned if maybe there was something different between you two, started replaying in your mind.
“I love you so much that being your best friend had always been enough…”
His eyes found yours again and there was so much honesty in them that it almost broke you.
“I get to see you everyday, share a bed with you almost every night, spoil you rotten…”
A small, emotional laugh left him, but there was no humor behind it.
Like he couldn’t believe he had been lucky enough to have you in his life while simultaneously being terrified that it would never be enough.
He paused, his jaw tightening slightly as he struggled to admit the next part.
“I don’t think I can keep living like this.”
The tears you had been holding back finally started falling freely.
You understood more than you wanted to because you had been doing the same thing — pretending that being close to him was enough, pretending that you didn’t want more because the possibility of losing what you already had was too scary.
Gunner stepped forward again, closing the space between you until his body was pressed against yours.
His hand lifted slowly, gently brushing away the tears that had fallen down your cheek.
“I love you, so fucking much it consumes me.”
His voice was quiet, but every word carried the weight of everything he had been holding inside.
“I need to hear you say it back.”
Your lips parted slightly as you looked up at him.
His eyes were glassy, filled with emotion, and for the first time in your entire friendship, you saw just how vulnerable he was with you.
Not the version of Gunner everyone else knew.
Not the confident rapper.
Not the person everyone online looked up to.
He lifted his hand again, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear with a softness that made your chest ache.
When he spoke again, his voice was lower, almost pleading.
“Tell me you love me baby.”
A small smile slowly formed on your lips despite the tears still falling.
Because suddenly, everything that had terrified you moments ago felt so much clearer.
You weren’t losing him, weren’t ruining anything.
You were finally admitting something that had been there all along.
You looked deeply into his eyes, letting yourself see him completely before you spoke.
“Im so in love with you gunner, you’re my entire world – I want you in every single way.”
The words left you shakily, but they felt like the easiest thing you had ever said because they were true — every single part of them.
For a moment, Gunner just stared at you — like he had spent so long convincing himself that this could never happen that he didn’t know what to do now that it finally had.
A shaky breath escaped him before his hands moved to cup your face.
Then he pulled you closer and your lips connected for the second time that day.
But this time there were no cameras, or a director, or bright lights surrounding you.
No reason to pretend that it was just a scene in a music video.
The kiss was different from the first one because there was no uncertainty behind it anymore. There was no wondering if he felt the same, no fear that you were crossing a line that couldn’t be uncrossed.
A soft moan escaped you as his lips moved against yours, and you felt yourself completely relax into him.
The darkness of your apartment surrounded you, the only thing you could focus on being the feeling of him so close to you.
His tongue pushed into your mouth and your body melted further into his, finally allowing yourself to experience everything you had been trying to deny.
The taste and warmth of him.
The way he held you like you were something precious.
You felt completely out of your body as the kiss deepened, every emotion you had been carrying finally releasing all at once.
It was messy and raw and imperfect.
But it was completely him.
He leaned down, his arms moving beneath your thighs as he lifted you effortlessly.
A small gasp escaped you, but you barely registered anything except him.
Your hands found their way around him, your lips moving from his to his neck as he carried you through the apartment.
A deep sound came from his throat as you kissed along his warm skin, your fingers holding onto him while everything around you felt distant.
Eventually, he reached your bedroom and carefully placed you down on the edge of your bed.
For a moment, he just stood there looking down at you.
No desperate rushing in his movements.
Just completely focused on you.
His expression softened as he took you in, like he was trying to memorize the fact that this was real.
“We’re not rushing anything baby, I don’t wanna waste a single second with you.”
A smile spread across your face as you looked up at him.
Even after finally getting the thing you both had wanted for so long, he was still thinking about you first.
You reached up, grabbing him by the waist and pulling him closer until he leaned down towards you.
“We have all night” you giggled softly against his lips.
He absorbed the sound, his mouth taking yours again in a kiss that was slow and deep. He backed you across the bed, hovering over you until your back met the solid support of the headboard.
When his lips finally parted from yours, a thin, glistening string of saliva lingered between you for a heartbeat before snapping.
Instead of pulling away, he leaned in to press soft kisses along the line of your jaw. Your eyes fluttered shut, a soft sigh escaping you as he took his sweet time.
His mouth shifted lower, his lips sucking and nipping at the sensitive skin of your neck, taking his time until light, rosy marks began to bloom across your skin.
You couldn't bring yourself to care about the aftermath or what it would look like tomorrow — in this moment, all you wanted was his touch, his warmth, his mouth on you.
Slowly, his broad hands slid under the hem of your pajama top. The moment his palms brushed against the bare skin above your waist, his movements stuttered, resting just beneath your chest as if he suddenly lost his footing, still unsure of how to navigate this new boundary between you.
You looked at him, your gaze softening with total reassurance. “Don’t be scared to touch me,” you whispered, your voice coming out shaky with emotion yet steady in its intent. “I want it all.”
He nodded slowly, his dark eyes never leaving yours as he slid his hands further up, cupping the weight of your breasts in his palms. A shiver ran down your spine at the initial cool touch of his hands, and your nipples hardened immediately under his hold.
A slow smirk gradually spread across his face as he noticed your reaction. That same familiar, cocky confidence you knew so well began to seep into this entirely new, intimate space.
He gently pushed your top up, resting the fabric just under your breasts, and leaned down to press a trail of warm kisses along your stomach. The tip of his tongue occasionally brushed against the soft skin of your tummy, making you twitch beneath him. As his kisses rose higher, his hands gathered the shirt completely, carefully pulling it up and over your head before tossing it aside.
He swallowed hard at the sight of your bare upper body, his chest rising and falling before his eyes darted back up to your face, checking in to make sure you were still completely okay with this.
“This feels so...” he started, a soft, breathless chuckle leaving his lips as he searched for the right word.
You smiled wide up at him, finishing his thought. “Weird?”
He nodded, a smile touching his lips. “But good. So good.”
He leaned in to press another sweet, reassuring kiss to your lips. Your hand rose naturally, your palm resting against the side of his warm face, your thumb tracing his cheekbone.
Positioning himself, he placed his arms on either side of your legs, gently spreading your knees and setting himself between them so he could be as close to you as physically possible.
A soft blush crept up your neck and flushed your face at the sudden exposure. He caught it immediately.
“You good?” he asked softly, his eyes searching yours.
You nodded, your hands trembling slightly as they slipped down to the bottom hem of his shirt, tugging on the fabric to motion for him to take it off. He caught on right away, pulling the shirt over his head in one effortless motion and setting it aside.
“Feel better?” he grinned, hovering back over you. “Now we’re even.”
You rolled your eyes, a light laugh bubbling up from your chest. “I’d barely call that even. I’ve seen you shirtless a million times.”
He let out a low laugh. “If you want me to take my pants off, you just gotta say the word, baby.”
You let out a playful moan of frustration, reaching up to cup his face again. “Shut up,” you muttered lovingly, pulling his head down to press your lips back to his.
When your bare chests pressed together, the flush of mutual warmth was so consuming, so deeply comforting, that a part of you wished you could freeze time and stay locked in this exact embrace forever.
Gradually, he rerouted his mouth, trailing a path down your collarbone until he took one of your peaked nipples between his lips.
A heavy shudder racked your entire body. You bit your lip to fight back a loud moan as his tongue swirled expertly around the nub, his fingers gently rolling and playing with the other side.
Your head fell back against the headboard, entirely helpless to the sensations he was building within you.
Minutes felt like hours as he meticulously switched between your breasts, licking, sucking, and pulling at your skin until your chest was warm, wet, and painted with soft hickeys.
Your breathing picked up, shallow and fast.
When his eyes locked onto yours again, he began to kiss his way back down your stomach.
His lips trailed lower and lower until they reached the low waistline of your pajama shorts, pressing quick, feather-light pecks across the flat skin of your pelvis.
“Gunner...” you gasped, the sudden, heavy ache settling between your legs becoming more prominent now than ever before.
He paused, looking up through his lashes. “Don’t be nervous. Let me take care of you.”
Your eyes searched his face, darting back and forth before you gave him a soft, quiet nod. Overwhelmed by the intensity, you laid back flat against the mattress and covered your face with both hands.
A warm, deep laugh echoed from between your legs.
“What?” you pouted, your voice muffled behind your palms.
He shook his head, his hands coming up to gently tug at your wrists.
“You’re not getting out of it that easy. You’re gonna watch me do this.”
Your chest rose and fell rapidly, your heart thumping against your ribs, but you agreed. Propping yourself up on your elbows, you watched intently as his long fingers hooked into the waistband of your pajama shorts, sliding them down over your hips and off your legs.
Left in only your underwear, the full realization of the situation hit you like a sudden freight train. It didn't scare you — instead, a wave of intense excitement washed over you so fast you could barely process it.
Gunner gently spread your thighs further apart, settling his body into the space. He rested his head lightly against your clothed core, pressing a soft, warm kiss to your inner thigh.
You gasped softly at the sensation — the sheer weight and warmth of your best friend's head resting against such a vulnerable, intimate spot sending electric shocks through you.
He shifted, switching to your other thigh, his kisses growing firmer, rougher, as you tried your best to stay still under his hands.
Without warning, he darted his tongue out, licking a wet stripe right along the edge of your underwear's fabric — so excruciatingly close to your center that it made you ache.
Your hips bucked instinctively off the bed, searching for more pressure.
He paused, looking up at you with pure mischief written all over his features.
“Are you a needy girl, y/n?” he asked, his voice dripping with playful amusement.
You hummed in soft annoyance, wriggling slightly. “Stop...”
He tilted his head, playing innocent. “Stop what?”
He rested his chin lightly on your lower stomach, his eyes holding yours captive.
“Stop teasing me, Gun,” you told him, your voice breathlessly thin.
“Tell me what you want, then.”
You closed your eyes tight, huffing out a shaky breath as the desperation caught up to you. “Please... I—” Your words came out messy.
He leaned up just enough to press a sweet, firm kiss to your stomach. “I like when you beg. Good thing we have all night, right?”
When you opened your eyes, you couldn't fight the helpless smile tugging at your lips despite the agony of waiting.
His teeth carefully hooked into the waistband of your underwear, pulling the fabric down the length of your legs until he slipped them off your feet and tossed them to the floor.
He held your legs firmly in his hands, his gaze dropping down to focus entirely on your bare, glistening pussy before slowly trailing his eyes all the way back up your body.
“You’re the most perfect thing I’ve ever seen, y/n,” he said, his voice quiet, almost exasperated by how beautiful he found you.
He carefully lifted your legs, placing them over his shoulders. He leaned in close, his face hovering just inches away, his nose practically brushing against your clit.
“How bad do you want it?” he whispered, his eyes fixed on your dripping center.
“I need it, Gunner,” you confessed, all pride slipping away. “I’ve wanted your mouth on me for so long.”
A low curse escaped his throat at your words. He brought his thumb up, stroking it gently between your slick folds before circling your clit in slow, agonizingly deliberate motions.
A breathy gasp tore from your throat. “More...” you whined, your hands clutching the sheets.
“Beg,” he demanded softly, his thumb never stopping its rhythm.
“Please—please, I need more, Gunner. I’ll do anything.”
Without another second, his tongue flattened out and licked a long, slick stripe right up your folds.
His eyes fluttered shut at the taste of you, a muffled curse slipping into your pussy before his mouth went to work.
A loud cry tore from your throat, your stomach muscles contracting tight. Total, overwhelming pleasure consumed you as he drew your clit between his lips, sucking gently while his tongue flicked over it in fast, rhythmic strokes.
Your hand reached down, tangling deep into his hair, holding onto him tight as your hips instinctively bucked up into his mouth.
“God—fuck!” you moaned loudly, the sound echoing through the quiet room.
He smirked against your core, feeling the vibration of your voice. “You taste so good... can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this pussy.”
His dirty praise drove you completely insane, his mouth working mercilessly against you. The bridge of his nose bumped your clit as his tongue dipped deeper, probing inside your tight entrance.
Your walls clamped around him, and you threw your head back into the mattress as the intense pleasure completely overwhelmed your senses.
He stroked his tongue in and out, working a relentless rhythm while your legs clamped tight around his head.
He took it all without complaint — the sharp pull of your fingers in his hair, the heavy restriction of your thighs pressing against his ears. He could barely breathe, but in that moment, he couldn't think of a better way to die.
The tight coil building deep in your stomach wound tighter and tighter until your breath hitched completely, your stomach caving in and out with every ragged inhale. Your vision went hazy at the edges.
With a loud, shattered gasp, your body broke.
You came hard, your entire frame trembling as your hips stuttered up and down against his face, completely helpless to the wave of release washing over you.
Your breathing came in fast, shallow pants while he gently licked you through the lingering aftershocks, drawing out every last drop of pleasure.
A deep blush painted your entire body, a sudden wave of embarrassment flushing your skin as you quickly brought your hand up to cover your mouth.
Gunner slowly climbed his way back up your body.
Seeing your hand hiding your face, he reached out and gently peeled it away. His face was still slick with your release, but it held nothing but pure, genuine warmth as he smiled down at you.
“That was the hottest thing I’ve ever experienced,” he murmured.
You let out a soft, breathless hum. He leaned in close to kiss you, his tongue swiping gently across yours so you could taste yourself on his lips — a taste that sent a fresh wave of heat straight to your core.
Sitting up, Gunner shifted off of you, moving to the edge of the mattress to pull open your bedside table drawer. He glanced back over his shoulder at you, his hair wildly tousled.
You chewed gently on your lower lip, biting back a nervous breath before shaking your head.
He ran a broad hand through his messy hair, resting his elbow on his knee as he paused to think.
After a beat of heavy silence, you spoke up, your voice quiet. “I’m on birth control.”
He looked back at you, nodding slowly as a relieved breath left him. “That’ll work,” he chuckled softly.
He began shifting back over to hover above you, but before he could place his weight on top, you held up a hand, stopping him in his tracks.
His eyes widened slightly in soft surprise at your tone, the quiet authority in your voice making your own pulse race.
He didn't question you for a second.
Following your instructions, he leaned back against the headboard, resting his weight against the pillows.
Smoothly, you swapped places with him.
You maneuvered yourself until you were kneeling between his legs.
Leaning forward, you pressed soft, lingering kisses along the defined ridges of his abs, your tongue trailing slick stripes up toward his chest and the column of his neck.
When you reached the tender skin just below his ear, you bit down gently before sucking hard.
A loud, deep groan tore from his chest, his head falling back against the headboard as if you had just hit a hidden nerve. You continued to mark the spot, climbing fully into his lap. He twitched beneath your weight, his hips bucking up instinctively against you.
You let out a soft chuckle right against his skin. “At least I waited until you were between my legs to get this needy.”
He turned his head, resting his cheek close to yours as a wicked smirk played on his lips. “How could I not be when I have you completely naked on top of me? I can feel you soaking right through my sweatpants.”
In response, you shifted your hips, grinding down deliberately against the heavy bulge straining against his fabric.
Gunner sucked in a sharp, harsh breath, throwing his head back and squeezing his eyes shut.
“What are you doing?” you giggled softly against his neck.
He smirked, his voice tight. “Praying I don’t cum before I even get a chance to fuck you.”
His words sent a sudden jolt of heat straight through your blood.
“I’m about to make that a little harder,” you whispered.
You slid off his lap, trailing your hands down his body as you moved back between his legs. Reaching up, you grabbed the waistband of his sweatpants, tugging them down alongside his briefs until he was completely exposed to you.
You palmed his heavy length, feeling the scorching heat radiating off him. He watched you intently, his eyes tracking your every move. You looked up to meet his gaze as your fingers wrapped firmly around his solid length.
He shuddered visibly as you leaned down, pressing a soft, wet kiss directly to the sensitive tip of his cock.
“Baby... I don’t think I can take it,” he admitted, his voice rough, his knuckles turning white as his fingers dug deep into the bedsheets.
“You can do it,” you murmured, looking up at him through your lashes with pleading eyes. “For me?”
His teeth sank into his bottom lip as he hesitated, his chest heaving before he gave you a slow, reluctant nod.
Without breaking eye contact, you parted your lips and wrapped them tightly around his tip. A deep, rumbling groan bloomed from deep within his chest.
You sucked softly, taking the crest of his head into your mouth, causing his hips to twitch upward off the mattress.
Steadily, you took him deeper, your tongue licking along the underside of his shaft as you sucked him in, setting a smooth, rhythmic bob of your head.
He moaned quietly, his eyes fixed on you as you arched your back, giving him a perfect view of your body while you worked on him.
“You look so fucking good...” he rasped out, his voice thick with pleasure. “Never knew how badly I needed you like this.”
You hummed around his length, the low vibration running straight down his shaft.
His broad hand drifted up, resting lightly on the top of your head — not pushing, not forcing, just gently guiding the rhythm of your movements.
Swallowing around him, you opened your throat, drawing him all the way down until your lips pressed against his base.
A soft gag caught in your chest before you eased back up, a glistening string of spit and precum connecting your lips to his cock as you pumped him with your hand.
His hips twitched again, a breathy gasp escaping him as his eyes went glassy, locked completely onto yours.
You leaned back down, taking him deep once more, deep-throating him before increasing the pace, bobbing your head steadily over his length.
Gunner suddenly jerked his body forward with a choked moan, reaching out to gently catch you under your arms and ease you off of him.
“Fuck, baby...” he panted out, his voice shaking. “As badly as I wanna cum down your throat, I can’t go another second without being inside you.”
He caught your chin between his thumb and forefinger, pulling you up to press a fiery, desperate kiss to your lips. In the same motion, he rolled you over, flipping you smoothly onto your back until you were settled beneath him, your head sinking deep into the soft pillows.
Positioning himself between your thighs once again, the hot, wet tip of his cock nudged against your slick entrance.
You exhaled sharply, your breath catching in your throat.
Gunner paused, leaning down to pepper soft, gentle kisses all across your face — pressing his lips to your forehead, your cheeks, the bridge of your nose, and finally, your mouth.
“You mean so much to me,” he whispered, the sweet softness from earlier washing back into the room.
He reached down, gripping his cock to guide it slowly up and down through your wet folds, coating himself in your slick. You let out an uneven, trembling breath at the friction.
“This is already the best night of my life,” he murmured, his gaze holding yours. “I want you in every way. Forever.”
Your chest swelled with overwhelming emotion at his words. As he aligned his tip with your entrance, his hands settled firmly onto your hips. You reached up, your fingers threading softly through his messy hair.
“I’m so glad you showed up tonight,” you whispered softly. “I was so scared there for a moment.”
He nodded, his expression serious, full of devotion. “I know, baby. You never have to feel like that again, okay?”
You nodded softly. Both of you leaned in at the exact same moment, meeting in a slow, deep kiss as Gunner began to slowly sink himself inside of you.
When he was only halfway in, the overwhelming stretch made you break the kiss with a sharp gasp. He didn't stop, slowly pushing deeper, filling you completely until his hips rested flush against yours.
You buried your face into the warm nook between his shoulder blades, letting out a loud, breathless moan as he buried himself to the hilt. His hand came up to wrap around the back of your head, holding you close as he gave a few slow, testing thrusts.
A shaky, gravelly “Fuck...” escaped him as he paused, trying desperately to compose himself against the tight warmth of your body.
His hands slid down to grip your thighs, adjusting your angle to pull you closer. His dark eyes searched yours.
“Don’t take your eyes off me,” he commanded softly.
You nodded, completely entranced.
His thrusts started slow and deliberate, his hips sliding against yours with a wet, heavy rhythm.
Your mouth fell open in a quiet gasp, your walls clamping tight around him as the heady scent of skin and intimacy filled the space between you.
Gradually, his speed picked up.
Soft moans spilled from both of you, filling the quiet bedroom.
Your arms wrapped around his broad back, your nails digging gently into his skin as he drove into you — each thrust deep, deliberate, and intoxicatingly controlled.
You couldn't hold back the desperate sounds tearing from your throat.
Tears of pure sensation prickled at the corners of your eyes when he gathered your legs, pushing them up toward your chest and practically folding you in half.
A ragged sob fell from your lips as the change in angle sent him impossibly deeper, his tip striking directly against your sweet spot.
“Right there!” you cried out, your fingers clutching his shoulders. “Fuck, right there!”
Gunner let out a low groan above you, taking the invitation to hit that exact spot over and over with relentless precision.
You felt like you were splintering at the seams, completely consumed by a pleasure far more intense than anything you had ever known.
His thrusts grew more sporadic, his hips stuttering as his own restraint began to fracture.
He lowered your legs, letting them wrap tightly around his waist as he continued to drive into you. The sheer intimacy of his eyes locked onto yours melted whatever was left of your composure.
“You feel so fucking good, baby,” he rasped out, fighting back a groan — only to lose the battle as another deep moan slipped past his lips.
“I’m gonna cum...” you gasped, your hips instinctively rising to meet his thrusts, desperate for that final friction.
He pulled you flush against his chest, allowing you to bury your face back into the side of his neck as you whined and moaned softly into his skin.
“I love you,” he whispered fiercely into your ear.
That was all it took to break you.
The end of his name dissolved into a high, shattered moan as your body violently gave in.
Your walls pulsed around him, contracting tight as a wave of intense pleasure crashed over you.
Your nails clawed into his back, a breathless sob escaping into his neck as your orgasm rushed through your veins.
Seconds later, Gunner cursed loudly, his back stiffening. You tilted your head back just in time to watch his expression crumble as his orgasm hit him, filling you completely.
You gasped at the sudden, searing warmth spilling inside you. His thrusts slowed to a gentle, rocking motion, carrying you both through the lingering aftershocks of the release.
Eventually, his strength gave out, and he slumped heavily against you, burying his face in your neck. You wrapped your arms and legs securely around his body, holding him tight against you.
For a long time, the only sound in the room was the heavy, synchronized rise and fall of your chests.
“I can’t believe that just happened,” he finally spoken, his voice quiet and raspy against your skin.
You smiled, your hand tracing soothing circles over the muscles of his bare back. “Me neither. I couldn’t be happier, though.”
He shook his head softly against your neck, a quiet laugh rumbling in his chest. “I’m so fucking lucky.”
You leaned up slightly, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.
The rest of the night passed in a quiet, comfortable haze. He gently cleaned you both up and helped you strip the bed, replacing the sheets with a fresh, warm blanket.
Once the bed was remade, he pulled your bare body flush against his, wrapping his arms around you tight. You laid together in the dark, talking about everything and nothing at all — soft whispers carrying into the late hours until sleep finally caught up with you both, drifting off wrapped in each other's warmth.
