How to edit square icons into circle icons, batch icon method.
Alrighty, so first off, hereâs the link to the tutorial I made on my rp blog for how to batch edit your icons. This method for creating icons is what Iâll be using as the base of this tutorial. Please note that this does require either the animation toolbar or the timeline one depending on which version of photoshop youâre using.Â

Okay, so first things first, you can either do this step directly after youâve just made icons, or you can load your previously made icons via the batch method. Go to file > scripts > Load files into stack and this will take you to a screen that looks like this.Â
From there, youâre going to want to hit browse and select all the files you want to edit.Â
(donât mind the file names, my computer wouldnât let me cap this part of the process, so this is from my batch icon tutorial) Once those are selected, youâre going to hit okay, and theyâll start to load.Â
Once theyâre all loaded, they should look something like this.Â
Alrighty, so what youâre going to want to do here, is select the icon that Iâve circled below, and youâre going to want to hit make frames from layers, then youâre going to want to hit reverse frames.Â
From there, youâre going to want to create a separate new file using the Ellipse tool or you can just hit U to make it. The document size can vary depending on how large you want your circle icons to be. I created a file that was 100px by 100px and made it transparent for the background instead of white. Then I used the tool with the settings below to create my circle.Â
From here, youâre going to want to pull that entire file off to the side so you end up with something that looks like this.Â
Then youâre going to want to click and drag the circle you just made and put it under the very bottom icon file, so you get something that looks like this.
Now youâre going to want to deselect the circle layer and select the actual icons layers themselves on the side of the screen. Once youâve done that, youâre going to want to right click and select create clipping mask.Â
This will leave you with something that looks like this.
From here, youâre going to want to go up to file > export > render video
From here, a screen is gonna pop up that looks like this.
Make sure you select where you want your files to go, what you want them to be called, etc. BUT, and hereâs the mOST important part, go down to where you see render options, and make sure you change Alpha Channel to Straight - Unmatted. This is what allows your icons to be transparent everywhere else but the circle, if you donât change this, youâll end up with a white square under your nice circle icon.Â
BUUUUT, once youâve hit render, itâll save your icons where you told it to, and youâll end up with a nice neat folder with icons that look something like this.
Please note that some adjustments should probably be made so you donât end up with slightly cut off sides to your icon. But hereâs how you can do it in batches...I hope this is at least a bit helpful.Â

Would anyone be interested if I started creating base icon sets on a regular basis? I know Iâve had problems in the past with people disregarding the rules on my icon sets before, but if the icons were simply cropped and sharpened instead of ones I spent hours coloring as well, I wouldnât mind people adding their own psds to them so they can customize them, as long as they like the post they got the icons from.Â

So, this is a psd that I made a while ago when I was playing around with icons on my rp blog. But anywho, basically, you copy the image you want to use onto the top of the psd, then you right click on the layer in photoshop and click âcreate clipping maskâ and itâll clip the image to the base shape of Scottâs tattoo. The icon itself is 150px, but you can always downsize it if youâd prefer. These typically make better dash icons than actual rp icons, but feel free to use however youâd prefer.Â

Hereâs my first attempt at a template for snapchatâs dog filter. This post contains two templates I've created, one has the base size of 540x960px and the other is 268x476px. Everything you need is in a labeled subfolder in the psd, also, each individual ear and the nose are on separate layers which means you can resize and move separately, so you can create the exact look you want for your muse.Â
