“Really, if you told me to I’d go punch them for you.”
oh was he angry? THE FIRST JOB THAT WENT WRONG and yet Luciel couldn’t meet his gaze. ice pack being held against jaw, lip busted and crimson still tickling down the corner of his mouth. he had still managed to get the information and cover his tracks. but at the cost of a rib or two and maybe some bruised bones. BUT THINGS LIKE THIS HAPPENED. so many times out in the field did he get in a situation that was life or death. that’s the risk of the agency. and in the end he didn’t mind it.
HE WOULD WELCOME DEATH WITH OPEN ARMS and question God why he made him this way. a mistake , a smudge in the books. slowly his hand fell bruised jaw still shining red. thumb and index resting against the bone as he rolled the joints back into place before his brow quirked at words. how brave. wasn’t it always the brave ones that died first? or those around them suffered and they ended all alone. ( he knew that ending too well. ). a forced smile that soon pulled into that wicked VULPINE SMIRK. his shoulders rising only to fall as his body slumped against wall extending out his legs.
❛ no need for the tough act , I’m fine. the important thing is I got what I needed. ❜
business was business and it came first. before his own health , before his needs , before his desires. THE JOB ALWAYS CAME FIRST. laptop being placed in front of him as he lifted the screen. digits clacking over keys, graceful and yet quickly. fixing at cracked glasses and yet still focusing on the work in front of him. ❛ the algorithm shouldn’t be that hard to crack , they seemed pretty dull to me. ❜ fingertips curled around the opposite wrist as he rolled to pop. a deep exhale of breath straightening up his back before golden gaze shifted towards the other.
❛ I’m fine … now leave me alone so I can finish this. ❜
what normally sounded so soft, playful, kindness now sounded cold and sharp like an ice pick. jabbing into the skin and peeling back the fresh wound. WHO KNEW HE COULD BE SO COLD. that there was a small darkness in such a bright light. amber hues narrowing and headphones being pulled forward and up over his ears before the other could even attempt to protest. HE WAS HIRED FOR THIS REASON. no need for care or concern. those emotions only got in the way.
