Keep my heart so we may live forever…

Bleach may be a clownfiesta but something that stuck with me was Kaien’s teaching about how it is important to live with kindness and joy towards others. Even though our bodies inevitably die and decompose, if many people remember you fondly then your spirit stays alive through them. I think this is a very comforting and humbling way to think about our mortality. Instead of wishing to live many years (which is out of my control), I’d like to try and live with a big heart instead (which I can do!). A few years with great happiness and many fun memories to be remembered by is better than a hundred years spent lonely and forgotten. Thanks Tite Kubo, for the wisdom.

Can we get a reworked ending or alternate ending or at least a spin off set in another parallel universe with the real ichiruki.

Oh man, I feel this.

Ichigo and Rukia were the last ones I imagined to have this kind of ending since I had so much faith in them being together. And I don’t even mean with sexual/romantic ties, just. Together. What happened canonically was that they parted and then saw each other again after starting their own families? What? There were so many moments between them in the series where it was so clear that even though they could function without each other, they brought out the BEST in each other when they were together and PREFERRED to be side by side.

The saddest part about Ichigo and Rukia is that there was definitely unlabeled tension between them at times, so much you could say that they stood at the precipice of romance. And yet, given such an epilogue to their story, they weren’t even given the chance to explore those unresolved feelings because by now, they’ve clearly adjusted with their current lives with their own lovers and families. Gradually, those feelings just...faded away.

In the end, I wish they didn’t have to live their main lives separately from each other. Yes, they are still a part of each other’s lives, but not as profoundly. That’s what hurts.

By no means does this aftermath reduce Ichigo and Rukia’s importance and impact on each other as a whole, but just like you, I’ll be stuck on the same question.

If anything, all of this makes their Black Sun and White Moon metaphor heavier than ever, huh? Oh Kubo Tite, oh you.

What's your favorite Ichiruki moment?

Ah, this is probably the most difficult question I’ve ever received! Haha, there’s just so many special moments they’ve shared together–angsty moments, humorous moments, touching moments.

And yet, the one that’s standing out in my mind right now is their very first reunion in the Soul Society arc: the bridge scene (ch.116). I’m in love with this moment because despite the heaviness of the situation around them (Rukia is out and about, Byakuya and Ukitake showed up, Ganju is down), they were still in their own little world when they interacted for the first time again. Their interactions were just so great and well-rounded–bickering, worrying for each other, etc.. Yeah :)
