WE NOW HAVE A DATE FOR WHEN THE SENATE WILL MARKUP KOSA AND WHICH VERSION THEY ARE TAKING UP.

As of now, on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026 the Senate will markup their version of KOSA and some other kids safety bills.

If you've been following this process, then please know THE SENATE'S VERSION OF KOSA AND THE KOSA THAT IS IN THE HOUSE'S KIDS ACT ARE DIFFERENT BILLS. This has been a major dividing point for the House and the Senate because the House dislikes the Senate version and the Senate dislikes the House version.

A markup isn't the best news, but the continue disagreement is good because it slows and stalls the process if they cannot agree on a version they both like.

This is an all-hands-on-deck moment. Call, email, fax your representatives and oppose these bills. (Edit: PLEASE CALL AND OPPOSE THESE BILLS WE NEED TO GET AHEAD THIS. ALSO OPPOSE THE DUTY OF CARE PROVISION)

I got this email from Fight For the Future and it is really helpful in communicating where we currently are in the fight against the KIDS Act and KOSA.

We should be using this time during the Senate's break to be calling, spreading the word, and doing everything we can to push back against these harmful bills. The return from break around July 15th, which is when Cruz said he wanted to consider the bills. So please, call while you can.
