People wouldn’t say “oh plz protect my poor baby Ben, he’s suffering”, treat him like a 13 year old child even though he is 30, or ship him with Rey after he kidnapped her, tortured her, force pushed her into a tree, killed her father figure, almost killed her close friend, manipulated her, said that she was “nothing, except to him”, tried to convince her to abandon her friends, ordered her to be blown out of the sky, and then threatened to destroy her…because they touched hands…nope.

And if Finn had looked like this.

First off, Finn has always been a person to put others before himself, even as a Stormtrooper. In tie-in materials, he was reprimanded for continuously helping a lagging comrade, and then for being unable to kill targets. That’s why he was sent to Jakku–to essentially be blooded and get a real taste of Stormtrooper action. He ended up being unable to kill the unarmed villagers, even though he absolutely would’ve known such actions would result in punishment. For a man that’s been brainwashed his entire conscious life to be a slave to the First Order, risking his neck for unarmed targets he knew nothing about was a incredibly brave act.

Then, he grew to care deeply for the new friends the made–primarily Poe and Rey. Who could blame him for caring about them as much as he did, maybe even loving them? (Yay for shipping both.) Poe and Rey both gave Finn things he’d never had before: one gave him a name, and believed in him, the other didn’t reject him, knowing his past, and fought to defend him. I absolutely do not blame Finn for being attached to this new, immediate circle of friends, knowing his background and what he experienced in life.

Speaking of which, why the fuck is it so bad for Finn to think first about himself and this group of friends? He’s been forced to be nothing but a weapon of the First Order his entire life, not even being allowed a name. He gets to enjoy something as basic as a NAME–along with his new comrades–for what, a week at most? Then, we’re told he has to push past that and become a cog in the wheel of the Resistance. Sure, he might believe in the Resistance, but why must hee be the martyr for their cause so quickly? He never gets a nice 3-year or 8-month timeskip to develop offscreen, like in the original trilogy. He gets a week before we’re told he’s selfish and must move past his attachments.

Finn gets like…one or two moments to think about himself in The Force Awakens. Why are we told it’s best for this former brainwashed soldier to selflessly devote himself to a brand-new cause when he finally got to make a choice for himself and leave the First Order just a week before???

And what the hell was the deal with Rose “we need to save who we love” crap at the end? As you pointed out isn’t that what Finn already did in TFA and the beginning of TLJ?! So why does he need to relearn this??

And about Finn needing to think beyond himself and his close circle of friends… doesn’t Rose do that same “selfish” thing in the end when she basically dooms everyone left in the resistance for this one guy (not that I think he should’ve died, he shouldn’t have been in that position to begin with). So didn’t that act just negate this stupid lesson Finn was supposed to learn?

Clara’s life goes on without the Doctor, but some days it’s impossible not think about him.  Sometimes she sits in a quiet corner of her TARDIS, and remembers.

“You don’t remember me, but I remember you, my Doctor." 

I remember the day I was hurt and you carried me home. I cared for you too, and healed your wounds. 

I remember every mad moment we held hands and had to run for our lives. Every star you showed me, every planet we saved, every galaxy we passed through, I remember it all. Each time you called my name it was a prayer and a promise and I still hear your voice, echoing through time. 

I won’t forget you, Doctor. You’re ice and fire. Ageless and forever, and for too brief a moment, you were mine and I was yours.

I still see your smile, and hold every moment we shared tight in my heart. And even if my heart breaks,  I’ll never be sorry for a single moment that I met you. These have been the best years of my life, and they are mine. 

I’ll blink away these tears and carry on. And so will you. But I can’t shake the feeling this isn’t the end for us, that there is a final chapter, a last page, as yet unwritten. Before I go back to face the Raven and before the gold light takes you, there is more of our story to tell.
