TASK 003: CONNECTIONS

Wanted Connection 002: wraiths who are loyal to Icarus rather than Orion. || taken: 1/?

This is more focused on those student Wraiths who seen Icarus as their leader exclusively. As messed up as the goals where they trusted him 100 percent and vice versa. Which him disappearing, they are most likely grouped up to go look for him and save him. Some may understand his reasoning for running. Some may not and try to get him to come back. Most are probably not happy with Nicodemus leading them and most definitely not with Orion if they found out that he was trying to get rid of Icarus anyways. I think it would be fun to have a group of trash cans who looked out for each other even if they are technically morally dark grey. Perhaps even make missions to go out and find Icarus while he’s locked up. I picture him as being a pretty top notch leader as far as a teenaged boy can be. He was fierce, commanding and looked out for his own. While he was under the command of his father, he did a lot for the student Wraiths than they’ve seen and not seen in order to protect them the way no one has for him. Including in fights where they were disadvantaged-- he was quick to get them out. --And a few of them have probably been properly saved by Icarus and they’ve saved him as well.

Wanted Connection 001: a moral compass/best friend.

They’ll go through thick and thin together. Perhaps this person has grown up in life completely different to the way Icarus had or maybe they’ve had similar walks in life. This has to be someone who will see the the sliver of good hiding behind all of the trauma and pull it out of him. Someone to believe in him when he doesn’t believe in himself. Someone who shows him what love is. Someone who will hug him and tell him he’s safe. Someone who will let him be soft. In turn, he will be protective. Probably recklessly so once he finds someone who really cares.

Your mother passed away when you were only a child, leaving you defenseless against your father, a man as tempestuous as the sea. He raised you in his own image and likeness, carefully molding you to be exactly who he needed you be. Unlike Voldemort, Orion recognized his mortality and wanted a heir, someone who could continue on his work – his legacy – once he was gone. For years, you never once strayed, fearing what would happen to you if you ever dared to disobey your father’s orders. Like a true Slytherin, your greatest talent has always been your self preservation. It’s not something you’re necessarily proud of, but you have always been willing to do what you have to in order to survive. It’s one of the many coping mechanism you picked up during early childhood. While you were willing to let the Knights see your choice as a moment of redemption, you refused to romanticize it as such in your own head. It was not bravery that you led you to defect. You know why you betrayed your father, why you made the terrifying decision to leave behind everything you had ever known. You had no other option. You refused to die quietly. And maybe, just maybe, that was still bravery – just a different sort.

PLOT ARC

When you fled, you headed for the Scottish hinterlands where you prayed that no one would be able to find you. There had been no chance to come up with a real plan, but you hoped that it would bide you some time while you tried to think of one. Knowing that your father had secretly placed tracking spells inside of the Wraiths’ runes, you were forced to carve yours out of your arm with a Severing Charm, and you did a shoddy job of it. It has since healed to a jagged scar, but when the Order of the Phoenix found you, you were barely conscious with a high fever from the infected wound. In one of the Order’s safehouses, a mediwitch still did her best to heal you, ignoring your incoherent protests. Truthfully, you are grateful to them for rescuing you when they could have simply left you for dead. But then again, you know that there has to be a hidden reason for their kindness and hospitality. Cynical as you may be, you’ve learned the hard way that nothing comes without strings attached and that even the so-called “heroes” tend to be motivated by self-interest, and you have no interest in joining yet another cause that you’re not sure believe in. Your whole life has been about survival, to the point where you have no idea what you stand for – what you’re even trying so hard to live for. But as you continue to recuperate in the safehouse, surrounded by people who are better and braver than you ever will be, you let yourself imagine for a moment what it would be like to be good. For the first time in your life, you have ownership of your own body and the freedom to make a true choice.
