Let me take you to school, kids.

I’m gonna be teaching ya’ll how to make something like that edit up there yup. That’s me, teaching badly. First your gonna wanna find a pretty flower texture. I got mine from evenstarss newest texture pack.

Now copy that layer and set it to screen- make the opacity something that looks right like 50-60% opacity.

Now add a new solid color fill layer and pick a light lavender- set this layer to overlay

Draw yourself a nice purple ass oval (e8b3fc)- a little fat like hamburger style

Then draw yourself a black triangle and position it like so…

It should look like a purple person in a party hat. Feel free to laugh and point. So next we’re creating another fill layer (#e8b3fc). Create a clipping mask on the black triangle and change the opacity to 50%. Next take your paint brush tool on a new layer and draw some mountains on the line where the triangle and oval meet in the lavender color. Next go found a nice picture of snow-capped mountains. I found mine on google. Any nice contrasty image will do. Set that to darken and erase the parts of the image that are not on the party hat shape. Set the opacity of that layer to 83%.

Now create a layer just above the flowers and select the polygonal lasso tool. Play around and make three shapes and fill them in with whatever colors you want. I chose pinky-purple, pastel yellow, and light blue. Get creative and make shapes that aren’t perfect- it looks better that way!

Then take the second texture in wubulge’s first texture pack and put it over that layer. Set it to darken and 67%

Now look for a skyline..any city will do. I used New York. Any image from google is fine, just make sure you type silhouette after, and that the image is black and white. Make a clipping mask on this layer to the triangle so it fits inside. Set it to darken and anywhere from 40-50%

On top of that paste a picture of a rainbow watercolor wash, the one I used is the first on google. Set the blending mode to “overlay” and create a clipping mask on the last layer. This will give an ombre/gradient effect.

Now, think about the subject of this edit and what represents them. Since the subject of my edit is going to be Amy Pond, I decided to quickly draw a watercolor castle and then write “like a name in a fairytale” on it. I set that layer to normal and the opacity to 75%. I copied that layer and set it to overlay on 100%...if your texture is too dark, try a layer of screen on 100% in-between. Playing around with it is the key.

Edits often look yucky without psds or when they’re half finished. Don’t worry if it looks strange just yet. Go get an image you want to use and cut them out. Make sure the lines on the image are clean and that the subject is bright. Now take a brush and hack away at the bottom of the cutout….And set the opacity to 75%. Copy the layer and set it to screen on 100%...copy it again and set it to overlay on 30%....resize as needed…

Add a floral texture behind your subject- or something that fits with the theme. You could end the edit here- but I’m not sure I want to yet. I made some triangles of purple and blue colors and set them to multiply and overlay underneath the castle. I also took a paper texture and set it to overlay at about 20% over everything.

then take a nice pastel pink psd and set it to about 80% opacity and BAM! You’re done!
