Hand woven bracelet with crystals that was given to him by his mentor, Martin, on the same wrist as the one with his staff. What would you find if you Googled them? His instagram and Twitter, maybe if you dug really deep some mention of Wilden Lightfoot's pro-magick advocacy in the US years ago or the Lightfoot name once being prominent in the magick community before they became very reclusive, but most of that info would take effort to find and most articles list Wilden as having children but not Ian or Barley's name directly.
People with access to older articles in Boiling Isles might come across mention of the Lightfoot name in connection with the Blights due to Linden Lightfoot's criminal record there.
What natives would know about them:
Has lived in town longer than he did in the States (since 2011) but hasn't been very involved in anything around town until the past few years, so not much. People he went to Secondary with (Graduated 2020) might remember he was out of school for most of the year when he was seventeen due to a 'magic-related accident'.
Currently works at Ruff to Fluff (front desk, groomer, dog trainer) and has returned to Pride U (Psychology major) after a year absence to focus on his magic.
He is known to be the apprentice of Martin Ambrosius, and by proxy a memeber of the Coven of Owls, as well as an Animation sorcerer in training and an elf.
In May of 2023 he broke a long-standing curse, freeing his boyfriend, Tony Rydinger, from magic that had held him captive repeating the same year for decades. In the process also releasing the town as a whole from the effects of the curse and returning their memories of Tony. While it’s not directly proven, it is speculated by the sorcerer community that breaking the curse was his doing, shedding some light on his surprisingly strong magic ability.
Other:
Elves are extremely uncommon overall so his family is a bit unusual being openly known as such around town. His mother Laurel (family NPC) doesn't bother to maintain much of her glamor and Ian being a half elf doesn't have this skill but has a predominately human appearance; his elven features are mostly only visually notable in his curved ears and occasional color shift to lavender in his eyes when he uses magic.
The magick community can easily identify him as a sorcerer, but not as an elf. The latter isn't actually identifiable by magic other than with other elves or the High Fey; most other fae species can sense he's not human but only in the vague 'something fae' way.
His reagents read very oddly to other sorcerers/other magicks who can sense them though due to his magic lineage being from two separate species.
