that would be too easy. No responsibility. A simple trick of the Universe, like air or food. No choices required, just pure function. There is no effort in need. No tangled, messy emotions or challenges. No ability to walk away when things get too hard, because I simply could not exist without you. Need is easy. Need requires nothing from its participants.

But what I do, is I want you. That is much harder, because it tangles me up with you, just as deeply as need. The emotions of it feels just as required for me as air, and food. But the reality is, I can survive without you. But when I want you, I feel all the messy desires and feelings of hoping each second with you will last a lifetime. And knowing that in a heartbeat, it could all just walk away. Because want is trickier than need. It requires daily attention, and it needs to be fed, or it will die. Want is a day by day, second by second commitment to what is important to me. And what is important to me, is you.

I don’t need you, because I am getting stronger. And I don’t need you like air, or food.

I want you, because you are my Soul, and you make me One, with you, everyday. Because the truth is, while I need air and food, I want you, even more…
