I AM IRON FIST

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN BYRNE! Byrne began his legendary association with Iron Fist by illustrating Marvel Premiere (1972) #25. He soon became the regular artist on the first Iron Fist (1975) series, where he co-created Sabretooth in issue #14.

After the series ended, Byrne reunited with writer Chris Claremont to resolve the lingering Davos the Steel Serpent storyline in Marvel Team-Up (1972) #63–64, before penciling Power Man (1972) #48–49 and Power Man and Iron Fist (1978) #50. He would return to the title years later as a not-so regular cover artist.

Years later, he famously brought Iron Fist back from "the dead" in Namor the Sub-Mariner (1990) #21–24.

One of comics' most influential creators, Byrne helped redefine The Uncanny X-Men with Chris Claremont, enjoyed a celebrated run on Fantastic Four, co-created Alpha Flight, revitalized The Sensational She-Hulk, and gave Namor the Sub-Mariner arguably his most successful run ever.

At DC, Byrne rebooted Superman with The Man of Steel, and worked on several other titles such as Superman, Action Comics, Batman, Wonder Woman, Legends, and more. He also co-created Cassie Sandsmark, the modern Wonder Girl. His creator-owned works include Next Men, Danger Unlimited, and Triple Helix.
