This is a person who doesn't actually believe I can do jack shit to fix the world, but hates so much that I am visible and enjoying my life despite their disapproval (remember, this comment was specifically on an old TDOV post), that they are trying to harness the very horrors of war and famine to get me to disappear out of shame.

Aesthetic bloggers who have heel turns like this strike me as the areligious version of Christian bigots who so often have Bible quotes in their profiles. These folks are trying to be seen as authoritative and enlightened, that they know the all answers in life and thus, can mete out punishment as they see fit. This person found what they thought was a useful weapon (empathy) and has started swinging.

I was prompted to write this post after a series of bad takes from progressives, but one of them was re-hashing the Sabrina Carpenter album cover drama with “I don’t think it’s conservative of me to think that the album cover is a bad look when we’ve seen images of women being abused in this way” because I do actually think you’ve failed to understand feminism by projecting your morals onto a woman who was consensually expressing her own autonomy just because she expressed it in a way that you didn’t like or that made you uncomfortable.

Body autonomy also means unhealthy choices. Body autonomy also means regret rates. Body autonomy also means freedom of sexuality. Body autonomy also means mutilation. If you believe body autonomy has limitations and exceptions, then your feminism is most likely surface level.

i say this as someone with autism related sensory issues who's never liked wearing sun cream. and i say this as someone who's dad also has autism related sensory issues and would absolutely refuse to put on any sun cream until he learned the hard way and got melanoma (type of skin cancer).

a few hours or even a full day of discomfort is better than months of going into hospital to get your skin burned by dry ice or chemicals. and that's best case scenario. worse case scenario is it spreads and you fucking die.

the sun doesn't care about your autism. it'd be nice if it did, but it's a giant ball of plasma. it's a borderline eldritch god which will bow to no one.

you put all that together and you have me sat on my bed with two fans pointed at me on max spin. it's even fucking worse when you consider that our summers have been getting hotter and hotter. like we're having days where it gets up to 35 C and then some, which sounds like a lovely holiday but it's humid as hell so it's just muggy and suffocating. it's not pleasant heat. it's not the kind you can sit out and sunbathe in.

like, i've been in southern rural spain during the summer many times as a wee lad, and even though i overheat cos i run like a bloody furnace, i was happy as larry to lay out on one of them plastic sun loungers in 40+ C heat, and by the grace of my mum's genetics, not get sunburn but just lightly sizzle until my skin is orange and my hair is blonde and i look like i'm from essex.

It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldn’t be legalized nation-wide until 2015.

It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldn’t hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)

As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. That’s only ~19% of countries.
