Don't work in retail

“Sorry, there’s not much I can do. I’m trying to help everyone, we’re extremely busy,” I reply growing nervous, she’s rolling her eyes and throwing her candy on the counter, all the while her 5 year old watching her mommy begin throwing a tantrum.

“So, you’re not going to do anything, great customer service,” she huffs and puffs. I stay quiet, unnerved by her behavior and not wanting to fuel anything. I check her out and say nothing to her because I’d only say something unbecoming at this point, she’s been nothing but rude. I give her her receipt with no words, just a glance to her skiddish daughter who is looking between me and mommy like I’m about to get in trouble.

“What, you can’t even say thank you?” She blabs suddenly, snatching the receipt from me and turning away before I could say anything.

“Thank you for what? Being rude to me?” I respond before she’s gone.
