The striped polecat (Ictonyx striatus), also called the African polecat, zoril, zorille, zorilla, African muishond, striped muishond, Cape polecat, and African skunk, is a species of mammal native to sub-Saharan Africa. Despite bearing some resemblance to a skunk (of the family Mephitidae), it belongs in a separate family known as the Mustelidae, and genetic analysis suggests that its closest living relative is the African striped weasel. It is adaptable and lives in a wide range of habitats and elevations, preferring open environments with lower levels of shrubs. This species measures 30–38 cm (12–15 in) in length excluding the tail, with males growing larger than females. Its fur is mostly black, with distinctive white stripes running down its back and white patches on its face and tail, though the exact patterning is highly variable. -Wikipedia

Should you fish keep?

I meannnnn… certainly not this one! But there are smaller species of Barracuda (🎸) certainly more suited for fishkeeping.. however! These smaller species are schooling fish and shouldn’t be kept in their lonesome. A popular choice is the yellowtail Barracuda (🎸) which even then I wouldn’t recommend for just any setup. Reaching sizes up to 24” is still an impressive feat, most tanks would simply be too small for a dish of that length that can move EXTREMELY fast, especially not a whole group of them. This is a better fish for massive tanks and commercial aquarium setups.. or marine centers

I imagine you could keep them in a big enough pond but I’ve never kept them in a pond myself!

Conclusion, should you fishkeep?

Uhhh I don’t personally suggest it, but it is possible!

I’ve gotten questions in real life about whether you should keep nudibranch friends as pets.. while it’s technically possible I have to disapprove of the practice unless you are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable in the subject of fishkeeping, or work in a field in which it’s plausible to do so!

They’re very difficult to feed and keep fed, as they have incredibly specific dietary needs. Furthermore, if you think fish are dramatic about their climate needs, this is no exception for the humble Nudibranch of.. pretty much any species.

Meet the glass catfish

These, particularly Kryptopterus minor (The Asian glass catfish) can also be known as the ghost, or phantom catfish.

Surprisingly, their organs are stored behind the head rather than throughout the body.

Another interesting species is the Pristella maxillaris .. or X-Ray Tetra!
