Wild Love - A Poem By Newt
When you tell me that you love me,Â
A numbness settles in my soul,Â
Like a fire that burns so fiercely,Â
It doesn't really hurt at all,Â
My heart, it skips a beat, then two-Â
I know that it will skip again,Â
When I lay my eyes on you,Â
A guarantee adoration will happen.Â
Since tiny fists and toothy grins,Â
I've been a mottled mess,Â
And have come to know the outs and ins,Â
Of the lack of a caress,Â
The longing for warmth - awful, freezing -Â
Forms my pragmatic independence,Â
So untamed; it's almost pleasing,Â
Almost bleeding, in a sense.Â
I'm begging you to take my hand,Â
And to hold it close and tight,Â
Force me to be still, to take a stand,Â
To burn through the darkest night,Â
So that I might roast my very heart,Â
Set kindling down for you,Â
And then we will - we will part.Â
