This is Halloween (event)
So... the Halloween event, I know I'm a little late, but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to say something GOOD about New Gen. To be honest, I can't even remember the last time I had anything to say about this game.
But here we are! This is the third NG event I've participated in. I played the first two, but then I got bored, until now...
Did I finish the event? No. Did I win all the images? Yes. Did I spend gems? Yes, about 70. I didn't get all the sets, but I did get the images, which is what I'm interested in. I have to say it was pure luck. For a moment, I thought I wouldn't get the Thomas image, but the game wants me on its side, so it gave it to me...
Now, in my opinion, and I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say outright that this is the best New Gen event (so far), the dynamic is exactly the same as in all past events, and to cut to the chase, the only thing that's different, the only thing that stands out, and the only thing that makes it THE event is, of course, the stories.
They took a chance on Halloween for the first time, and I can't remember an event as epic as this one (perhaps the ugly and weird HL Easter event or the crossover events). You can really tell when there's love and good writing involved; we don't need anything else. Halloween was the excuse for these five stories of truncated love. They are all wonderful, all unique, and a beautiful excuse to see tears (and a little bit of blood).
My little “top” Devon gets the applause this time, he was by far my favorite (SPOILERS) when they're in the water, he holds Genoveva while asking her how many children she wants to have, it's just heartbreaking and I don't think I'll ever forget it. Second place Roy Why Roy? I was won over by that ironic, unfair ending... (SPOILERS) Are you telling me they won and still ended up dead? Art, pure art, and the moment when Roy realizes that Genoveva is going to die and says “No” with a sad face... he's dying and just wanted her to live... ugh, it killed me too. Third is Jayson (funny). I like the story, though it's not as epic as the others. What I like most is the image, which is art. The desperation in Jason's eyes says it all, and the final sprite of Jason with his hair tousled and his eyes full of tears... My goodness, what a good service… In fourth place is Amanda. I really like the story. I like the theme of forbidden love and that if they were discovered, they would be burned at the bonfire. It's very realistic. It's sad to think that tragedies like that still happen today… And last but not least, Thomas. It's not that I didn't like it, it's just that the story frustrates me a little. I understand Thomas' motivation, but the ending left me a little in limbo. I really liked the image and the little controversy (about whether Genoveva was pregnant or not). I want to believe that she WAS pregnant and that gave Thomas real reasons to leave and leave her alone, because he wasn't just saving her.
Rating? I don't know, 20/10, I really enjoyed it. I hope that for future events they take risks like they did with this one. After all, these events happen “outside the canon,” which should give them the courage to do more, play more, and take risks.
Congratulations, Beemoov (and above all, congratulations to Chinomiko, the reason this fandom is still alive and the reason we have this spectacular event).
