Ever since Loki had found her after their ordeal in the cave, Sigyn had moved back in with him in his condo. His place was the higher quality one. Her apartment had something wrong with it every week. She had gotten comfortable here, and, although she wasn't completely sure of herself in the kitchen, she had tasked it upon herself to make Loki something special for him for Father's Day. Their children might be gone, but Loki still had his other children.

Her husband was currently out running errands. It was usually at this time that Sigyn would try to do as many chores as she could while he was away, but today she had a meal to make. Quickly stopping by the neighbor's down the hall to collect the groceries she had bought yesterday--and subsequently hidden there so Loki wouldn't find them--Sigyn started preparing the steak on the stovetop. She had seen Loki do it so many times, what could possibly go wrong?

Despite her lack of cooking experience, she did manage to thoroughly cook the steaks well. She sprinkled a few seasonings on top to bring out the flavor, and she plated them before sticking them in the fridge. Her game plan was the make everything, one by one, so she could devote her whole attention to just one thing.

She made up the batter for the chocolate cake next, following the recipe exactly. She put it in the oven and turned on the timer so she wouldn't forget. Next, she peeled several potatoes, taking it slowly before rinsing them and dropping them into a pot of water. She turned on the heat, added a few cloves and garlic to the water, and let them boil.

She had just managed to take the finished cake out of the oven and place it on the cooling rack when the timer for the potatoes went off. Turning the heat off, she drained the potatoes and put them in a bowl, adding some chives and a drizzle of butter on top. Quickly taking the steaks out of the fridge, she set them in the oven with it off, just letting the remnant heat soak into the meat. She then set the potatoes aside before ripping up some leaves of lettuce for the salad. One large bowl was made up for them to take as much as they pleased, and she had thrown in some pre-cut carrots and store bought croutons. Cutting was not her specialty. Setting that aside as well, Sigyn had just plated the cake, spread icing on top, and set the second layer carefully on top of the first when she heard Loki's key's in the door. Her eyes widened and she rushed to the door just as Loki was stepping inside. He had placed the few bags he had on the floor, his arms wide as he saw her rushing him. He assumed she was greeting him with a hug.

Sigyn didn't have many skills in order to make her father something for Midgard's Father's Day. She didn't have much money, either, but she knew she needed to get him something.

She eventually decided on an embroidered towel for Iwaldi to use when he's smithing. It's not too fancy that he can't get dirty and it's not too decorative that he would never use it. It's just his first initial embroidered onto the towel. There were no extra things that would be wholly unnecessary.  She couldn't help but smile as she wrapped it up, her mind lingering on the surprise she placed inside the towel.

As a master crafter, Sigyn knew her father had a fine eye for weapons. This extra gift she had found months ago, and had been saving it for a special occasion. The dagger had cost her a pretty penny, but she knew he would find use for it somewhere.

Although shorter than some of the blades she had seen her father wield, this particular blade had a substance in the scabbard that allows the user to store magic in the blade of the dagger. A trait she believed would be useful, as well as giving her father the opportunity to try something new with his own weapons should he choose to unravel how it was done on the dagger.
