So my biggest hang up on this end of things is I really despise email, and I'm not sure of a good alternate way to shoot out notifications, BUT you are not the only person to have put something like this out there so I'll put out a few options. I have also been toying with the idea of a Patreon where folks can request things, vote on what drop theme comes next, as well as other lil things, and could do email alerts via that.

Hello and thanks for this ask, happy birthday, and congrats on the kiln!

This may sound kinda cheesy, but my best advice is truly to have fun and experiment. If there are things that people make that inspire you, try em out! Test out glazes and firing temps and see what works, what doesn't, and what you like! Because there are SO many types of clay and glazes its hard to give solid general tips, but if you are interested in using underglazes I highly recommend Amaco, with Speedball being a good and more affordable 2nd option.

Otherwise the best practical advice I have is as soon as you can manage it, look up where to get a set of replacement elements and thermocouple for your model of kiln and buy a set as a back up. Even if you’re only using the kiln occasionally, it is the worst whenever you see your first error message/ firings go too slow, or don’t go at all and 95% of the time it’s because you need to replace one or both of those things. Having the right parts on hand immediately to replace them is truly a game changer.
