Hey, I know this isn’t a writing blog, but I wanted to aska hyperempathetic person, so here we go. In my book, I have a hyper empathetic autistic character, and the main villains of the book are a mirror universe version of the main cast, with the previously mentioned hyperempathetic being the first one we meet. So how would you go about writing a hyperempathetic villain? Sorry, I just don’t want to mess this up.
ooh that’s quite a cool concept! I assume that it would be very difficult for them to perform “morally grey” actions or anything typically villainous, so I’d say that like, it would be useful for them to have a really solid motive for doing so? or another force guiding their actions.
Hi! I don’t have autism but I do experience hyper empathy and I was wondering if it’s still ok to submit posts? If not that’s totally fine! If you prefer I not follow at all too, I’m fine with that! Have a great day 💕
yeah it is!! thanks for asking and sorry this is super late
hello! sorry if this is a weird ask, but is it possible to have hyperempathy and have aspergers? it's confused me bcs usually ons of the traits I've read about is having very little empathy?
Yes!! Autistic people always having low empathy is a myth. Hyperempathy is very common in people with Aspergers’, and empathy can also fluctuate or depend on the situation.
Is hyperempathy some sort of mental disorder? I'm not trying to be mean I just stumbled across this blog and I'm curious as to what a hyperempathetic is. Could you tell me please?
just posted another ask with pretty much the same question!

I know this is weird to ask on a blog like this but, what does hyper empathy mean?? I tried looking what it means but I don't understand anything. I'm also asking because I relate to a lot of these things and I'm quite curious...
it basically means like… really strong empathy
like- empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person, and hyperempathy is the extreme version of this. with hyperempathy you might feel the empathy sort of feeling for things like inanimate objects, fictional characters, animals, etc. or just to people to a big degree. people hyperempathy might find it very difficult to watch emotional movies or be around people who are having an argument because it’s sort of like all the emotions that are on the screen or that other people are experiencing are suddenly being experienced by them
i feel like it’s misunderstood because a lot of people - most people - experience empathy, but this is a very extreme version of it. it’s not just feeling like aw :( when your stuffed animal falls on the ground, it’s a lot… more than that
Hi, I'm the neurotypical anon. Ladysilvrene is right, by neurodivergence I was referring to ADD/ADHD and the autism spectrum specifically. Also, I just wanted to say I really like this blog bc before I found it I thought that literally no onr else had this. It was so good knowing I'm not alone. Thank you ❤
i’m so glad you feel a little less alone, and all that makes sense!
anyone else with hyperempathy find emotional pieces of media like books, movies, etc. really Really overwhelming??
i just read a very good book and really enjoyed it but now i just feel so detached and i can’t even understand my own feelings now.. these sort of things always leave me feeling burnt out and confused
hey, this blog hasn’t been super active for a while sorry but we’re going to start again! this is just a reminder that we exist :o
hdfkjnhfkh thefw my partner is going through a hard time and i want so badly to help them and seeing them sad makes me cry so much that i literally can't do anything but if i tell anyone i feel like it'll be making it all about me and my problems

oh wait. could hyperempathy be why I relate to fictional characters so much and feel so connected to them? I know Im hyperempathetic and Ive always been really really sensitive and connected to fictional characters... huh.
yes! this definitely could be!
I was watching brooklyn nine nine, and one of the "cold open" was Hitchcock or scully accidentally swallowing his new fish, as he thought the bow was a a drink, but it me so sad, as I was just imaging the fish not dying when it hit the stomach acid as he was trying to jump out but there was nothing to go on, and then dying in pain:(
oh no!!!! that’s so scary tbh :( :(
Can a neurotypical person have hyperempathy? I experience it a lot, but I also do therapy (for other stuff) and my therapist doesn't really think I'm in the spectrum or have any kind of neurodivergence whatsoever.
i’m a little confused - if you’re in therapy for mental health stuff you’re probably neurodivergent. i think i’d need some more information to know if you have hyperempathy, information you have! If you think you experience hyperempathy, you probably do!
Hi, I just wanted to say that while i'm not autistic I do have ADHD and lately I've felt so terrible about being so super sensitive about everything, like sad things on TV or inanimate objects, until I remembered there's a word for that and that it's tied to my ADHD and that it's okay to be this way. And this blog is very much what I needed to see today, seeing other people who feel the same way I do and relating to their situations while knowing that none of us are bad or broken. Thank you <3
💕💓❣️💗💕💓❣️❣️
Is it plausible that hyperempathic autistic people could be "better" at social dynamics? I do have some typical autistic traits and mental processes when it comes to social cues and dynamics, but I also have a real gift with people, I can draw them out and get on their wavelength really well.
i think so for the reasons you said.. im not the greatest with social skills but i feel like i really,,,, understand people ?? i think yeah

Hi! I just wanted to say I love this blog. I think I definitely had hyper empathy as a kid, and while it’s something I’ve mostly grown out of, it was still really amazing and validating to find out it had a name and that I wasn’t alone. Like I used to have entire stacks of used disposable cups because I felt like they were my friends, and sometimes I still talk to inanimate objects. Anyway, you guys are awesome. Thanks so much!
💕💕💕thanks so much!! it,s really sweet to see that people are enjoying the blog and i hope u have a great day!
whenever one of my non-hyperempathy friends orders a meal that's only kinda "meh" i feel really sad because you're supposed to buy food that tastes good and makes you happy and they don't feel that way :( and then i feel like i'm too easy to please in that sense bc i'll eat just about anything and think it's yummy....i feel sad for the food, sad for the people who made it, sad for the friend who ordered it bc it's not a yummy happy tasty meal :(
OH i do this too:(
