JOSEPH COULDN'T quite figure out the words to say - how to express the intense swirling of emotions he felt during those weeks where he thought caesar was gone ... a whirlwind of remorse and guilt - and deep seeded regret by not confessing honest feelings so much sooner , how that month spent together was one of the best of his life despite lingering deadline. ' is that hard to believe ? we spent so much time together ... all that training , all the shared meals together , and the nights where we couldn't sleep ... is it truly that hard to believe ? ' arms lithered around chest , slowly bringing caesar closer and shoving face within the crook of exposed neck. eyes could hardly meet the others without some sense of lingering guilt toiling from within - forever feeling a faint sense of remorse because he drove caesar away to the mansion alone. ' how couldn't i be worried ? or feel bad for all the hateful things i said ? you could've kept yourself hidden and never had let me know you lived , and i wouldn't blame you at all. ' he could feel cheeks heat up , trying to keep tears at bay for everything he had done to the other ... ' but ... i'm glad you chose to let me know. life is much better with you in it. '

“ happy birthday, my love. ” a platter’s set atop the dark wooden nightstand, previously cleared for its arrival. joseph’s favorite: a stack of pancakes, a pile of waffles, a handful of bacon and a few sausages. caesar sits on the mattress next to joseph and hands over his drink, poured from a brand new bottle of fresh orange juice, and leans in for a kiss. it’s long, passionate—- hopefully enough to pull joseph out of his sleep-drunk haze and wake him for this monumental day. not a beat passed before caesar pulls a gift out from under his gown. wrapping paper hugs the circumference of the box closely, betraying its rectangular shape. it’s light, near-hollow: occupied solely by a sewn, moss-and-teal color blouse. tailored to joseph’s physique, no mistakes made. “ this is for you. i made it by hand. ”
THE BEST WAY for a busy man to wake up is beside his loving husband and to the smell of perfectly cooked breakfast food - the perfect duo to start such a day. there was no hesitation as joseph pull himself up , bringing caesar down in the process so he could kiss him again ! ' thank you , honey. where would i be without you ? ' joseph sat more up right , jaw yawning as he reached over for a sausage link - devouring it within one go to satiate hunger for a moment longer. ' cooked to perfection , too. what else can i say. ' lips showed genuine smile as he offered another kiss , taking gift within his lap as he eagerly unwrapped it. HANDS PULLED OUT soft blouse , noting instantly that it was specially tailored for his torso since trying to find such measurements for any man is an arduous process ... eyes instantly light up - admiring the quality of both craftsmanship and inviting fabric. yet again - hands pull caesar in for another kiss ! quickly wrapping arms around smaller frame , paring with a light squeeze. ' i love it - all of it ... thank you so much , sweetheart. i couldn't have asked for anything more. '
was she simply another body? another number on an ever-expanding list? there’s two parts to this all-too familiar scenario. first: his deceit. suave, sweet talk from a smiling mouth. a tender, warm hand cupping the curve of her face. second: her despair. in a permanent state of hunger, nothing hurts worse than temporary satiation. another may endure this sudden rejection without a bruised ego, but that wasn’t eden. oh no, this rejection felt personal. what is it that makes me unlovable? did i do something wrong? as she awoke to an empty bed, its own weight caused hairline fractures to blossom ‘cross her porcelain heart.
well. glue it together with malice and spite, and you can move on. or so she believed.
“ what the fuck is wrong with you?! ” spat like venom, eden struggled not to slap that dainty little cup out of his absurdly large hand. “ so you leave me after using me, then you decide to have breakfast at the café around the corner from where i live? are you doing this to taunt me - like a psychopath? ” revenge couldn’t be too explosive. not with him, anyhow. if her arms were any tighter ‘round her torso, they’d asphyxiate her.
apathetic to onlookers, whose morbidly curious eyes led them to their … one-sided altercation, eden then loudly shoved the empty chair at the table aside. its metal legs made a god awful sound, scraping over centuries-old cobblestone. maybe an audience would worsen the humiliation. “ apologize! ”
SHOULDERS FEEL THEMSELVES tense up as she ( rightfully ) lashes out , eyes widening as he tried to pull thoughts together closely. legs shoot themselves up as hand sets down cup , wanting to calm her ramped up nerves by any means necessary. ' darling , i'm sorry ! ' there's a slight quiver within lips , never having a previous partner be quite so ... vocal , about their nightly desires. though - certainly not his first time tangoing with aggressive parties. ' i thought you knew - you seem the type to indulge in brief carnality , no strings attached. a simple one night stand - typical night for us adults. ' BROWS FURROWED AS he tried to show sincere remorse - never once realizing the consequences of such actions ... though - previous one night stands have never acted so ... volitaile before. or , he simply never got to see reactions - having snuck out early within the dawn. ' i apologize for assuming otherwise. i ... i genuinely had no idea you'd be upset - how can i make this up to you ? ' hand slowly reached up to cup soft cheek - letting a thumb graze porcelain skin.

“ is… uh, is something the matter? ” its volume descends, ‘til it’s little more than a whisper. concealed underneath a thick, foamy layer of bubbling soap, caesar’s figure seeks to obscure itself behind distortions and residue. fatigue’s haze manipulated his judgment. his infatuation did little to help. it should keep his (not-so-hidden) secret safe —- at least, if @etcnnante’s inattentive enough not to notice. “ you’ve been… staring. ”
OH GOD ... WAS his stare really that noticeable ...? yossarian had tried his hardest to not let his eyes linger anywhere - but certain ... things ... make it quite difficult for him to focus elsewhere - even as hands scrub away at his back and ensuring waters are warm enough. ' have i ? ' eyes pulled themselves away from the obscured figure before him - staring at striking blonde hair to focus on something - anything else. ' i don't mean to. most of the men i've showered with didn't have , um , the figure and looks that you have. hard to not help myself from staring every now and then. ' fingers let loose of the sponge , letting it float amidst the lucrative amount of bubbles that kept caesar's form hidden. ' if i'm making you uncomfortable , i can leave you be. perhaps it'd be better for you if you finished up alone. '

NIRAN NEVER HAD a proper chance to stay the morning with those who kept him company at night. often for both their safety - lord knows what would happen if anyone he met with got caught in the crossfire with such a hefty price on his shoulders. and never had he met them out on the streets - looking for him specifically. but , france was a lovely place - from their beautiful botanical gardens to gleaming architecture , he wanted to stay where he was for a day or two more to relish in it. AS HE SIPPED from porcelain cup and admired the sounds of people in the street, he heard heels quickly come up to his table. an eyebrow raised as he recognized such heels , looking up to see a stunning , familiar face before him. however - she did not share the same eagerness that he had seeing her. ' ah , my beautiful garden of eden ! it's so nice to see you again. care to join me for some tea ? '

caesar’s time, and with it, his ability to contemplate. the few hours spent awake were occupied by reading, entertaining concerned guests, or stitching (hands may tremble, yet he persists). it wasn’t until joseph’s emotional self demanded his time that memories flooded back : the near-suffocating sensation, the searing pain of shattered bones, the knowledge that falling unconscious might mean his end —- another nightmare added to his repertoire.
there’s a gap —- a long, deep, tiresome crevasse —- between humiliated and grateful, and caesar cannot decide which glacier is easier to traverse. humility was never rewarded on the streets (unless a rugged knife piercing the tender flesh of one’s back is considered a reward), and knowing this was a fight that couldn’t be resumed meant the final battle concluded with his supposed demise. he didn’t like either option very much.
but he owes it to joseph at least. honesty, that is.
butterfly wings flutter in his frail, cracked rib cage once lips meet the back of his hand. affection stirs, a strong yearning pleading joseph to stay. the words don’t make it past his throat. “ don’t worry. it’s… it’s not your fault, ” it stings to admit, but it’s true. “ i shouldn’t have run off. that was a stupid thing to do. ” run away, run away, run away!, instinct begs. it’s a desire left unfulfilled. that being said —- hide it he may, yet caesar has caught a glimpse of joseph’s bare form; an absence of the left arm stood out, and he daren’t question it. despite all of that, he wondered.
the arm coiled around joseph’s waist tightens, bringing their bodies closer together. what comforting ambience, the sound of joseph’s heartbeat. alive and well, warm and inviting; this was exactly why it was impossible to deny joseph a spot in his bed.
“ you, uh… you didn’t do anything impulsive because of me, did you? ”
THE WAY LIMBS intertwined reminded him of their nights spent together before their inevitable separation. how deeply he wished to turn back the clock to redo all he has said and done ... how deeply grief settled within the pits of his stomach despite being forgiven - it was hard to ignore , but it was made easier to handle with his beloved wrapped within large arms. even as head placed itself between blonde locks - he could feel tense shoulders ease up as familiar hair products filled nostrils. BUT THE QUESTION caesar posed made heart skip a beat - pulling him out of their moment of tranquility to suddenly remember the grueling fights and how horrifying it was to go against kars specifically. ah - yes ... there was still so much left unsaid that caesar had hardly known of - where can one even begin ? ' impulsive ...? ' he mutters within blonde strands - eyes darting across the room because how could he explain how truly impulsive he had been. hands mindfully run over caesar's back - an obvious silence filling the air. ' i ... wouldn't say i was being horribly impulsive. ' because how could one explain flying a plane into a volcano and causing it to erupt ? sending the pair into the stratosphere ? ' i did end up going after wamuu and kars after we found you ... ' words tried their best to work around specifics - and he hoped caesar wouldn't pry further as to how ... truly , impulsive he was. ' it doesn't matter what i did or how impulsive i was being. i did what i wanted to do - to avenge you and your family. and i succeeded , all thanks to your bandana. hopefully you have more than just that one. '
trying to befriend elliott during the first year is almost impossible because of his ridiculously expensive taste like for a guy who lives in a rundown shack on the beach you sure do love things that aren’t even in your price range
