How I Got Started #S01E03 by HYPE Magazine Ghana

Bernard Kelvin Clive or BKC [for short] needs no introduction. His person and name is progressively becoming tantamount with personal branding and inspiration, and is set apart from his peers by his strong social brand and simplified yet thought-provoking message.

He is a graduate from Kwame Nkrumah University Science and Technology (KNUST) and has a Postgraduate diploma in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). Bernard has helped hundreds of people self-publish their books through training and workshops, and has inspired thousands more to live their dreams. Bernard has delivered motivational speeches across the country to diverse audiences from junior high schools to universities, churches to corporate boardrooms. He has a passion for inspiring and empowering people to live their dreams and enjoy life, no matter what their age or background may be. His motto is, “Inspiring and empowering souls one text at a time.”

BKC is an author of twelve books (including the classical, The No Nonsense Guide to Personal Branding for Career Success and the Amazon.com best-selling The Art of Personal Branding), podcast host, motivational speaker, a blogger and self-publishing coach in Ghana. He is known to simplify complex ideas into tools that inspire people through his speaking engagements, books and training. He contributes regularly to Young Men’s Perspective Magazine, Today Magazine, Ewatch Magazine, and Hero Magazine. He is also a columnist for ModernGhana.com and blogs at his official website BKC.name. His article “Dig Another Well – Dream Another Dream” was featured article of the week in July 2010 at 48days.net.

Dr. William Okyere–Frempong is a medical doctor by training, leadership coach, preacher, creative writer, events MC and motivational & conference speaker by divine design.

 He is the Country CEO of the HuD Group (see www.thehudgroup.org) – an international Christian based leadership and mentoring organization, whose vision is to raise a massive global movement of informed, inspired and invigorated people of Godly influence and productive impact. He until recently served as founding CEO of the CLiNS Group – a Christian youth life development organization, until August 2013 when his organization merged with the HuD Group and he become country director of same.

William completed his Senior High School education at Prempeh College and holds an MBchB (Medicine and Surgery) from the University of Ghana Medical School. He is a certified Leadership and Life Coach- the first global graduate of the Leadership HuDdles- an offshoot of Dr. John Maxwell’s EQUIP Million Leaders Mandate project and serves as a Lead Coach of the HuD Group’s consulting and Leadership Programs. He makes regular presentations in corporate events, churches, schools, conferences/workshops, interest groupings/societies meetings, Television and Radio programs.

 As a medical doctor, Dr. Okyere-Frempong has worked has had working experiences in the Korle –Bu Teaching Hospital and the LEKMA Hospital– Teshie Tsuibleo, He is currently the Acting Medical Director of the LEKMA Polyclinic– Nungua. William serves on the Board of DurbanView College– an emerging professional Business Leadership College located at Nungua and is also founding member of the Baobab Family Tree Investment Group- a multipurpose business and investment group based in Accra.

  In every era God raises leaders to pioneer new possibilities for humankind and without pretense or apology, Willie continues to inspire a paradigm of purposeful living especially for young people. Born in Ghana and raised in a small town called Queenstown, in the Eastern Cape, South Africa; her home for over 20 years, Kate Nkansa-Dwamena read Bachelor of Commence in the University of the Witwatersrand, majoring in economics and business finance. After graduation, she worked as a banker in private banking as a junior manager in South Africa before moving on to teach English to middle school children in South Korea.

  Kate is on the Technical board for the Youth Economic Dialogue and is also a trustee for an initiative called ‘Pass a book on‘, where they give out books to people and also teach them how to develop good reading habits. A woman of substance with many facets, she is also the chief editor of Feint and Margin, a website (www.feintandmargin.com) of pan-African commentary by young African writers. She is also a member of the board of directors (Ghana) for African Startup, an NGO which provides training to micro enterprises in Ghana.

Miss Nkansa-Dwamena is also the Managing Director of Zhest Consult, a start-up consultancy specializing in training Small and Medium Enterprises in Ghana by creating customized training material which addresses the unique challenges of small and medium sized corporations such as poor teamwork, low sales, motivation and productivity, negotiation skills and developing your corporate culture.  

Zhest Consult holds seminars, workshops and training for SMEs and entrepreneurs. Ask Kate Nkansa-Dwamena what her passions are and she’ll tell you it “lies in awakening Africa’s social conscience through personal and career development.”

“Underneath every failure or underachievement is an excuse” ~ Jeremiah Buabeng

He is arguably Ghana’s fastest rising motivational speaker.  He combines this with being a  knowledge entrepreneur  preacher, author and the Executive President/Lead Consultant of Matrix Institute, a leadership development organization.

At age 25, Jeremiah Buabeng is a very sought-after speaker, speaking to thousands of people each year through seminars, churches, campuses, radio and television. Since age 17, he has featured on over 300 platforms to various audiences. He speaks on personal growth and capacity building, the discovery and development of talent, career excellence and job search strategy, leadership and entrepreneurship.

Jeremiah also hosts his own conferences including the itinerant career development seminar Career Compass, and the annual Accra Youth Summit, Leadership Development Confab and the Job Search Strategy Workshops.  Jeremiah has a background in marketing which he aptly applies to his craft. Just before he left school, he was awarded by the student government for his achievements as a young entrepreneur and role model in 2012. He has been the toast of several radio programmes including features on national television.

In his career as a photographer, Barrak El Mahmoud and his team have produced iconic images of the many Ghanaian dignitaries including  President John Evans Attah Mills, Kofi Annan, Ex Ghana President Jerry John Rawlings.

Barrak El-Mahmoud is of Ghanaian and Lebanese heritage. He's married and resides in Ghana. He loves good humour, music, technology, simplicity and art. An old student of Christ The King School, he proceeded to Achimota Secondary School where he completed in 2002. During his secondary school years he developed a passion for graphic designing and used a mobile phone to take pictures which made his passion for photography grow stronger over the years, he then purchased a semi-professional camera and it was it not long before his photographs were the talk of the town.

From that point on his professional career developed quickly and in 2010 he founded CAPTURE - your memory bank, a photography company that has become one of the house-hold names in Ghana in under a year. CAPTURE offers general photography and cinematography needs to the public - both domestic and corporate.

Vera Adu Amani, founder of Adu Amani Klodin (formerly known as Vaadstyle), a young lady full of life and dreams, dares to be unique, different and creative shares her story with Hype Magazine.

“Basically I started with printing CDs (Vaadhouse), even until though and I had plans of going into fashion. My good friend, Angel; a Fashion designer, introduced me to the art of ear rings making and bangles made with fabric in 2010. Unfortunately, many people where not patronizing it. When she left for school,  I got a client who wanted ten shoes!! By then Adu Amani Klodin was known as Vaadstyle- which is my name abbreviated. I was left alone and wanted to give up on it and focus on my Vaadhouse Ent which is about printing but at the same time I realized it’s an opportunity to create something different. I made the shoes - they was really good and of high quality standard. People kept coming and then I decided to rebrand and Adu Amani  KLODIN was birthed”

Vera, as she’s popularly known, is very sociable and always ready to network with people from all walks of life. She also adores photography and takes inspiration from everything around her.

DAVID RAYMOND ASARE ASIAMAH is the founder of the Agro Mindset Organization; an organization that is committed to rousing up an urgency in the youth Ghana and beyond in the area of agriculture; enlightening them about its impact and benefits, its self-employment roles and wealth creation.

David’s passion for agriculture is contagious. He guides the Agro Mindset Organization with his switched-on strategic vision and fresh approach to engaging the youth in agriculture and continues to empower a new generation of Ghana’s youth to take advantage of the numerous opportunities that agriculture presents Ghana to transform herself. 

He is super-passionate about Africa’s transformation and is actively in the front lines showing doing and showing how.  Currently anticipating a Master of Science (Agriculture and Development) from the University of Reading, England, David has a BSc (Hons) Agriculture Degree and specialized in Agric Mechanization, from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. He is an Akatakyie (old student of Opoku Ware Senior High School).
