I could make an entire post about why it was a bad idea to stand 10 toes down for Platner after the whole tattoo thing, on top of other things we've known about him, but it really applies to any politician regardless of the reason. Platner, Sanders, mamdani, Obama, Harris , AOC, whoever. The best of the best to the worst of the worst. You don't know these people to be fighting tooth and nail for them, and definitely not enough to treat anyone who makes reasonable critiques out to be speaking blasphemy. You don't have to be their social bodyguards just because you like what they say. At that point, you're making a bigger fool of yourself than than person ever would make of you if they mess up later in the game.

I feel bad for everyone who's last name is Epstein (except the obvious guy). Imagine waking up one day knowing that a sexual predator, among many other things, will be the first thing people think about when hearing your birth given name. Definitely makes dating hard too.

The issue with having a feminine name as a dude isn't even having the name. It's that people feel the need to constantly remind me that I have a feminine name. I had this name for over 20 years. I already know why people coming to meet me look around the room before approaching me when there's no one else around. Not only do I get that but it rarely bothers me because it's unlikely that I actually see you doing that. What you don't have to be is the 12907th person in my life to tell that you were expecting a woman.

The thing about alt-right pipelines is that the beginning of one can disguise itself as something genuinely reasonable in a vacuum. For example, there's nothing wrong with a man making a video criticizing a woman for the truly awful or stupid things she says. Women can be wrong about things. Comes with the whole being human thing we have going on. That being said, check his profile. Is 98% of his content criticizing stupid people responses to women? Is a lot of the woman he is correcting being wrong about gender issues? I think at that point it's ok to start questioning the intentions of that person. At the very least, enough to start thinking about the possible impact of this content.

I know to be cautious of anyone who is so sure that their ideology will only hurt the bad people and never anyone innocent, even by accident. It's the quickest way to know that they are defining a bad person as "anyone I or my ideology in action hurts" and not what that person has actually done.

It doesn't matter how clear you are with the point that marginalized people being bigoted towards other marginalized groups are perpetuating the work of their oppressors. You'll aways hear something along the lines of "so you're blaming women for misogyny" or "you're blaming minorities for racism?" Like, no, I'm just saying that pushing things like homophobic rhetoric isn't helping your causes or communities, it's hurting them.

The thing about people who romanticize past communist countries, or perceived communist depending on who you ask (for the sake of your sanity, don't ask), is that they don't know how to respond to criticism of that romanticization with a semi-reasonable response. Of course the 1920-80's USSR wasn't the pinnacle of gay rights. It was the 1920-80's USSR. Instead of saying "I want the USSR but with gay rights and stuff," people just kinda wave off those issues as non-issues or start treating people like heretics for ever bringing up things like that.

I've read a lot of those "it's all in your head" type of justifications for why people think they have chronic Lyme disease. Some even leaning towards "they're lying for attention, nothing more." I'm not saying that Chronic Lyme disease does or doesn't exist, but I am concerned about the how it seems to be mostly women claiming to have it. With how the medical field treats women, I do fear the implications if it is to actual exist. It means that instead of people getting proper help they needed, it's has been brushed off as the "attention seeking bitch" disorder.

I went through an anti-tipping subreddit and, like, bleh. Tipping culture is a sham, but I hate it because employees shouldn't have to reply on a customer's compassion or social pressure to have their needs met. These mfs hate it because they don't care if the person bringing them food can afford to eat.

I'm not disabled, well, I'm currently in the process of trying to figure out if I am or which one I have, but that "injury is a free trial to disability" concept feels like it applies to this very process. I have to walk around with this diagnostic device connected to my body. Having it on when I'm isn't much of a issue, but you're telling me that I can't leave my house unless absolutely necessary, can't exercise or be out in heat because sweating might mess up the device, had to use my vacation days because I can't go to work, have to be bound to 2 rooms for most of the day (that's pretty much how I already spend most of my time at home but it's about the fact that I don't have much of a choice), and can't even bathe under running water? Jesus Christ.
