Playing pokemon red for the first time. Cuz I'm bored. and I'm new to Pokemon as a series (I know way too much about it for not touching a game in any meaningful way). Five hours in and:

- my team feels unbalanced, but it works as long as I have potions.

- leveling up my pokemons is hard, long, and boring. but, its an early rpg so I was expecting a grind anyway.

- I named my Caterpie "gwub". Yes, I'm mentally ill, how did you know?

- surprisingly, I have only died three times so far. Once to Brock, and twice in Mt Moon. I have no idea how I'm gonna fight Misty since my starter is a candle with claws and the rest of my pokemon don't have floatation devices.

-the game is helping a lot with pixel art for me. Mostly because I can compare it to other games. It's definitely not my style, but it's always good to have more refs. (maybe I should play FireRed...)

- music slaps. this isn't news to anyone, I just like hearing the songs in context.

Isn't "they use Recall to bring Zelda back" not just literally what happens at the end of Totk. That's why Zelda also says "Link I'm home!", because in one of the memories Sonia described Recall as basically bringing something back home. And that's a recall to that (pun half intended). Am I missing something. Did the English localization mess it up that bad. Did my version of the game say it wrong. Help it's so lonely out here

I think that people focus too much on the fact that Sonia and Rauru are also there. That part doesn't make much sense. But the recall thing is absolutely what happens to Zelda. The rune on Link's hand lights up and everything.

I think another problem is that being able to recall Zelda out of a dragon form kind of makes her sacrifice kind of pointless? Becoming a dragon is supposed to be irreversible, but her own power reverses the process. Recall would be the power to do it, but there are those that say it shouldn't have worked that way.

Pixel art? That's one thing. I think I have a pretty good grasp on all that. I can handle colors and shapes in that style. Heck I've done some character designs too.

Animating pixel art?

That's uh... that's hard. like super hard. I'm sure that one of these days I'll figure it out, but until then I feel like I'm getting beat up by Animation with a metal pipe.

Can you count how many monsters I drew?

Nintendo really should remake this game with an added storyline about his blood being hunted by monsters. Like, when Link is critically injured, all the monsters reappear, kind of like the Blood Moon in BOTW/TOTK. Adventure of Link is known to be a pretty tough game, but now imagine it in 3D graphics! XD

I made this reference map while working on the drawing, but totally forgot to post it All refs belong to Nintendo.

I used the pink color and the ivy leaves from the background of the title/start screen of The Legend of Zelda (1986), since this game is meant to continue the story from that classic game. Hope that makes sense.
