90% of the time, ar gyfer does the job - I'd say that's definitely the most common form of "for". The others have more specific use cases; am is particularlly tricky as it can also mean "about" and "at [a time]".

From my quick research, apparently Gareth King's Working Welsh breaks these words down (along with the rest of the mechanics of the language), but it costs around £40 and I ain't forking out for that just yet, I have two cats to put through university first.
