You never know what people have to go home to, always be kind.
âStop. Pull up a moment, and realize: God delights in you. Stop and consider the implications of a love so unbreakable that your actions cannot touch it. Think of how often youâve seen yourself in the harsh light judgement, rather than in the warm glow of Godâs perfect delight.â

âIf Iâm away too long, heâll come find me. Â Even if Iâm just upstairs watching my program on television, heâll wander up to see what Iâm doing. Â And weâre always holding hands. Â Even if weâre just sitting on the train or the bus, heâll always find some way to touch me. Â Just to let me know heâs right there. Â That he got me. Â He might not even notice that heâs doing it. Â But I always do.â
It can be hard to show yourself compassion, so hereâs an egg to practice with! âĄ
This comic is inspired by a technique I learned in therapy. I wrote a personal experience about my anxiety and learnings from therapy on my Patreon.

No matter how many times you fail to meet your own expectations, you have to forgive yourself. Despite contrary belief, dwelling on and badgering yourself over your faults doesnât ever help you grow into who you want to be.
Itâs like gardening: if your flower isnât blossoming like you want it to, you donât rip out its leaves as punishment for failing to satisfy you. You recognize the problem and figure out whatâs going wrong with its environment so you can modify it, giving the flower a chance to bloom in its own time.
Accept your shortcoming or setback, forgive yourself, and figure out whatâs going wrong so that you can plan for how to prevent it from repeating in the future. Thank your past self for trying in the first place and then give your future self the love needed to flourish.
Figure it out with the Lord. âĽ
âYou have to stop thinking youâll be stuck in your situation forever. We feel like our heart will never heal or weâll never get out of this impossible struggle. Donât confuse a season for a lifetime. Even your trials have an expiration date. You will grow, life will change, and things will work out.â
â Brittney Moss
âI just feel like I should be doing better. Â Iâm nowhere near retirement. Â Iâm working two jobs: Iâm a licensed tour guide, and I make videos for businesses. Â But even thatâs not enough, so recently Iâve started working for the census. Â I donât want to run down the census: itâs fine, itâs great, itâs important work. Â But Iâm ashamed of it. Â Because Iâm sixty-five years old, Iâm a college graduate, and Iâm supposed to be done by now. Â Iâm supposed to be coasting. Â But Iâm not even close. Â I feel like I still donât even have a grip on the basics: how to make a living, how to keep my house in order, how to take care of myself. Â And it feels shameful. Â I feel not grown up. Â Like I should have learned all of this so long ago. Â And Iâm afraid people will think itâs pathetic. Â Worse than that. Â Theyâll think Iâm incapable. Â So Iâve been keeping a lot hidden. Â I havenât even told my colleagues about the census. Â And thatâs one thing Iâm trying to work onâ not keeping things hidden. Â Because I know this shame isnât healthy. Â It isnât right. Â Iâm luckier than 99 percent of people. Â Iâve been sober for 39 years. Â I have the greatest wife of 32 years. Â I donât have any crippling debt. Â Iâm doing OK. Â I shouldnât have to hide my situation. Â And being more open has helped. Â Because once I start telling people, and I see theyâre not judging me, and that theyâre still loving me, the shame tends to disappear.â

âI think most teachers try to act like theyâre a higher status, and theyâre above us.  Itâs probably because our parents are  paying them to teach us things.  Maybe theyâre just taking the teaching part a little too serious.  But our art teacher Ms. Grierson isnât like that.  Sheâll admit her mistakes.  Sheâll point out her own flaws.  She gives off this vibe like sheâs not just a teacher, and you can talk to her about more than just school.  You can tell her about your personal life.  But not just your problems,  you can also tell her fun stuff like what youâre going to do on the weekend.  Sheâs also crazy.  Really crazy.  One kid brought in an umbilical cord from his mother, and everyone was freaking out, but she didnât even care.  I used to think that art was like drawing a person and it had to look perfect.  But Ms. Grierson says, and Iâm quoting her on this: âArt doesnât have to look good, because the process is more important.  Itâs about how you came up with the idea.  Weâre here to pose questions, not give answers.ââ (Hong Kong)
