queer/alt salon near me has been advertising a free haircut day, today at 12. flyers n promo posts all say no appointment needed. called last week to see if there was like a signup list, was told no, just walk in. get there at 12:15. theyre booked all day. with appointments. for the no appointment event.
the only thing that mentions a signup list is one of the stylists instagram posts from before i called in. they dont have a shop ig n this stylists ig isnt linked on the site. told me i could wait around and see if anyone drops out. inside is full. told to sit at the table n chairs outside. it is 101 degrees in the shade. oh ok can we go somewhere else & call back to see if theres an opening? well sure but its first come first serve. also the list is full so we cant put u on it so u can get a cut after waiting for the appointments we said weren't happening.
only other salons willing to do mohawks are both booked up and expensive. like 60 on the low end. fuck this im going back to a buzz

they apparently never announced anywhere that they were full, including at the salon??? friend who works nearby said there were still ppl in line outside when they left at 5:30
also they 100% did not just have a ton of ppl show up early to get in line. girl i was talking to in line said she made her appt 3 days ago. someone else pulled up n when i told them they were full they said they made an appointment wednesday
idk i just feel like if youre gonna take appointments for something billed as no appointment needed & then fill up with appointments id just. make it appointment based anyway????? last year it was billed the same n they refused to even do a list it was fully first come first serve. if u left the building they didnt save a spot u had to get back in line
im just. rly annoyed. my hair has been making me dysphoric but i was waiting for this bc cuts are getting so so expensive. now i feel sick from waiting in the heat hoping for someone to drop n have to wait longer to pay way too much. the only affordable cuts near me are a beauty school who will not do mohawks and the homophobic supercuts who will try and do a very bad job. even the small barbers are 40+ n also cant do hawks
