Several horrified whispers later, I learned that he wasn’t. He actually thought a) that women could shut down the menstrual cycle at will, b) that we essentially picked a week per month to spend more time in the bathroom, i.e. to goof off, and c) that napkins and tampons were sex toys paid for by Health and Human Services. I didn’t know the term then, but he believed that tampons were dildos. Which was why he and a good number of his friends considered them luxuries.

This is one of those phrases I see on a lot of posts that while I understand why people use it, it always manages to irritate me.

First, on its face it’s a command, telling me what to do. One of my biggest pet peeves is being told what to do. Asking, requesting, pleading, begging, all perfectly fine, but I don’t like being given an order. It’s a small linguistic issue I know, but it gets to me everytime.

Second, I understand the appeal from a submissive perspective that I am making them do something. While that is true on some levels as they often wouldn’t do the things I ask of them without being ordered, it’s more than that. I’ve always seen my role as a Dom to be figuring out those things that a sub is interested in but is perhaps hesitant, scared or embarrassed to try. With my help I can help her to overcome that, whether it is by giving her a chance to outweigh her concerns with the desire of pleasing me, or more often is the case by learning that it is ok to try and experience new things. If I let her hide behind the phrase “make me” then she doesn’t get the satisfaction of fully embracing the accomplishment of what she has done, and that it is ok to not only admit you have done things I’ve asked, but that she might have even enjoyed it.

Nothing can compare to a sudden, unanticipated, face slap. The sound of it seems to hang in the air for an extended period of time, coupled with the stunned silence that follows. I love so many things about delivering a quick and unexpected slap but these are the top two:

First, it is one of the most intimate ways of delivering pain. If you have ever so much as glanced at my blog, or even read the title, it shouldn’t be hard to see that I am very interested in humiliation. So you might ask if you are willing to piss on someone and call her a urinal, then why not worthless? Two reasons:

1) Whether you are dripping in piss or you have your head shoved up my ass, that doesn’t make you less of a person. I may make her do degrading things, but I never think less of her as a person because she is doing something I want her to do, if anything those are moments where I praise her, for doing things that are difficult to endure, because they please me. 2) I think that any good humiliation has to be rooted in some level of truth. If I call someone a urinal for example, there’s truth to that title. If I were to say someone was worthless, I wouldn’t believe that and wouldn’t want her to believe it either, which is not effective in creating the mindset I want.

I get on average 4-5 messages a month from random people on here where in their first message they describe themselves as worthless. I understand that they usually think they are demonstrating that they are interested in humiliation, but it’s not appealing to me. Quite the opposite, when I first get to know you I want to know all of the things that make you worthwhile, your skills, your talents, along with your faults and flaws, but when the first thing you tell me is that you are worthless, it makes me wonder than why I should take my time to respond to you. When I look for someone, I want someone who is going to add to my life, enrich it in various ways that I might choose and that I can do the same for her.

There are a lot of different answers to this question.

Second, again despite one’s feelings about piss there are things that I will do to help make things easier for a sub who is just training in this type of service. Being careful to be very well hydrated, avoiding certain foods etc. can help make this process a little easier to swallow (literally and figuratively). However, it is nearly impossible to hide this fact with the first time of the day, this is going to be difficult for some but watching the struggle on a subs face, especially while they might still be waking up is one of my favorite moments as a Dom and it makes me so proud when it is done.
