I think King Arthur should be a wildly likable guy but a deeply problematic king. That’s how I view him. So many adaptions make him as boring as cardboard, morally righteous or just a warrior. The audience should witness him continue to fuck up time and time again and be like “Aw, c’mon buddy.” Here is this guy with a boyish ebullience who was raised a foundling and is now king and prophesied to be a great king but he keeps making bad choices and committing atrocities. He’s actually still Sir Kay’s little foster brother deep in his soul, the power hasn’t corrupted him completely he just isn’t using it correctly. That’s my take on him.
