I like the progress I made, I think I drew the first one last year when it was crazy cold. And now its cold again this year (snow in the middle of march is insane), so why not redraw something from a similar situation. Also realized I draw Hu with like their face always hidden. They really got just one pose baha

They’re fixing that scarf, it looks more obvious in the first pic. So I’ve still got a lot of room to improve

Looking back at it I did kind of draw meowy with no soul in her eyes, she’s kinda just there. But I don’t draw animals a lot anyways so 💔

A big thing of the Human Devil’s character is their obvious inhumanity and alienation, they have deep insecurity over what they are named after, but can never become. To them their silence, uncanniness and odd quirks r all weaknesses, which they try to make up for by watching people and mirroring them

But with Denji they’re confronted with their devil side, cause he obviously wouldn’t fall for the whole “im totally human” trick. Which is new and terrifying and very uncomfortable but Huu grows to really respect him for it. They aren’t trusted outside of their utility to the government so it means a lot being seen and trusted, even if he’s sometimes a punk about it. I’m obvi not the best with describing stuff but the two basically get along over their shared identity struggles •_•

Huu also really doesn’t vibe with being in public, or seen at all, so they’re trying to breach that gap, giving someone Denji can talk to

Here they are catching up over lunch (everything is for him bc Huu never eats infront of ppl), the devil never went to school so they’re learning about it from him. I tried to go for a sunset vibe but it kinda rings dawn more. Oh well

My own mom’s not vry affectionate.. no fault of her own I guess but sometimes I wish she was, so I drew Huu to make up for it. They would also not be That Way at all since they hate touch + vulnerability, but if they wanted to make Denji trust them at all, they would probably do what they’ve seen humans do

Huu’s references as of right now, I’m happy with both of them so I hope I ain’t gotta change them anytime soon *crosses fingers*

The second pic is their “disguise-“ basically their human form cause I think its cool that they’re an apex predator trying to fit in. They are old as balls. The first pic is their “real form-“ its larger than it looks and is covered in REALLY hot flames. It has a full body, but can’t form it bc its always in pain too

They prefer to look human because looking like a giant skeleton is no dice. They are my most specialist guy

They’re not the greatedt maternal figure considering how detached and inhuman they are but I crave characters who are literally nonhuman trying their best to imitate one. Something something about love finding a way something something. Also they love to cook, especially meat dishes 💔

the human devil is humanity’s #1 hater but gives the best hugs since they’re so warm. especially to those who need one, and who else might need one but chainsaw man

i have to learn how to incorporate colors better tbh i was just slapping layer after layer with different shades of blue on different blend modes ಥ_ಥ
