the day had been like any other, one where mirae was exhausted but she kept pushing through it as she thought of the good of the group. people were right; it was destroying her. she was too far into even know how to stop herself. primera hadn’t recorded anything new but there was talk of releasing an album of their best tracks so they needed to reblock old choreography (without sora) if they were to perform their hits live. after feeling light-headed after rehearsal, mirae had made the decision to retreat home so she could rest. however, it seemed to hit her even harder as she reached the entrance of solar’s headquarters. she looked terrible and it was clearto anyone that she hadn’t been looking after herself. propping herself up on the wall as head started to spin, she took a deep breath. nothing had been confronted and now it was all catching up with her. an overworked idol was chasing her own idea of perfection that was sending her down a very dangerous path. she stood there hunched as her elbows rested on the wall to prop her up.
after her little chat with sora, yejin was aware that something wasn’t right with mirae and she did feel responsible. her entire job description was to manage the primera members and if she let anything important slide, she was failing. anyone at so!ar knew that kwon yejin didn’t back down, period. this would have been no different if she weren’t drowning in paperwork. after finally finishing up and heading towards the door, freedom, she caught sight of the primera member and she could feel that something was wrong. watching the other waiver worried her, it worried her a lot. she started to continuously curse in her head. her feet going a bit quicker, she reached to place a hand on the other’s shoulder. “mirae.. mirae what’s wrong?” it looked like a mess waiting to happen. yejin didn’t want to be heartless nor selfish in this situation but outsiders were able to look in and it looked bad, it made her look bad. now was not the time to be thinking about the possible demise of her career but she couldn’t help it. scanning the perimeter, syejin cursed out loud before putting her arm around mirae to keep her upright. what had she done?
hxnjaes:
//* ʜᴀɴᴊᴀᴇ ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅɴ'ᴛ ʜᴇʟᴘ the breathy laugh that escaped his lips at yejin’s commentary. as much as he didn’t want to admit it, she sounded far too similar to himself for his liking. did he really come off as bitter as she did when he spoke? ugh, perhaps this was where his future was headed— but he squashed that thought the moment it surfaced, not wanting to spend too much time letting it get to him. the soloist leaned back against the wall as he watched the woman locate her forgotten papers, crossing his arms casually over his chest. “ isn’t that just how society is? the big wigs dictate how everything operates and the rest of us just have to learn to deal with it? ” really, so!ar was a little society of its own with its own little hierarchy, and despite what outsiders may think, hanjae found himself pretty far down in the food chain. he found himself feeling jittery the closer that yejin stepped in his direction, visibly pressing himself closer to the wall in vague intimidation. “ y’know, not to be that guy, but it kinda sounds like you mean the exact opposite. why don’t you just, like, threaten to quit or something. watch them scramble to meet your expectations. ”
there would be no resolute end to this ongoing saga if she quit; that would only bring her instability. with ahyoung’s father still not answering her calls and management refusing to give her that promotion they had been hinting at, yejin found herself been constantly thrown in between the two. she knew full well that the company was going to shift blame onto her when primera was over but they had been going for a long, long time and it wasn’t like people were going to forget about them when their discography was so long. the nation’s girl group, it would stay. “it’s not like that. this has been going on for years and they still refuse to listen to me even though i’m trying to make their life easier. why on earth would you not listen to that? they could even take all the damn credit.” everything was always made more complicated than it needed to be. the woman would have quit but she needed a plan, she also needed to say goodbye to that dream of finally getting that promotion. “it doesn’t work like that. there is no scrambling, just a fine exit. everyone’s replacable and that includes me. they’re not at all sentimental.”
calmtone:
jaein didn’t quite know how he managed to be pulled under ms. kwon’s guidance , they were even in two separate fields , working for two separate groups , yet here they were . mainly , jaein would attribute it to how intimidating the woman was , scared to say no combined with the need to impress that was deep-rooted into his gut from the moment his mother had become a big name in the fashion industry . it’s why he finds himself listening closely when he passes by her , hearing her muttering & stopping to address her , “ ms. kwon , ” taking a pause before continuing , “ are you alright ? is ahyoung okay ? ” & while somehow being roped under her arm , he was also roped into babysitting … a strange task , but one he’d grown to love . “ i don’t mean to overstep , but i don’t think doing everything yourself will make things better in the long run . ”
the manager was grateful to see that jaein was the one that interrupted her and not one of the young idols that wanted to throw a punch at her; they really needed to learn the art of timing. the other had been a big help, she couldn’t deny it and the worst part of it was... she could trust him. that never seemed to happen before but he accepted her stance on many things and ahyoung loved spending time with him. she couldn’t have asked much more from the other. “ahyoung is fine but she’s at home and i’m here. do you see why this is growing to be a problem? i work so i can provide and i don’t even get to see her anymore.” the woman forced herself to take a deep breath as her emotions ran high. “in real life, you’re given no choice.” everything was always her responsibility and while she was good at handling it, it didn’t mean that she was any less sick of it. she felt like she was failing because she was left to it, the pressure always on her and she had a hard time accepting that sometimes she would fall short.
ayaxlee:
❝ you must really enjoy your job if you’ve been muttering the same sentence for past five minutes … ❞ aejeong remarks towards the pacing manager, having been observing yejin since the latter started on her own personal tirade. really, it was an unintentional meet-up since the light-haired female had met with her own group’s manager just a few minutes earlier. from what she could tell, it’s plausible the older woman’s rant may have something to do with either primera or their company, but younger wasn’t as nosy as some of her fellow so!ar peers. ❝ if you say you have brain cells, then why did you let it get as far as a shit show ? ❞ she muttered under her breath. aejeong didn’t dare mutter it outloud, seeing as she tried to phrase it as politely as possible (keyword: tried), but it couldn’t be helped that it was a rather snide comment. playing off her earlier discourteous demeanor, the female gave yejin a sympathetic smile. ❝ i may not be the most experienced listener nor the best advice giver, but do express your woes to me, manager yejin ! perhaps i can give some form of insight ? ❞
yejin had other responsibilities other than this and she felt like solar should have grown to understand that. however, she was always met by difficult people who tried to make things harder than they needed to be. the woman wasn’t the easiest person to get along with but she got the job done (management only complained when she was going up against them). hearing the other mumble underneath her breath, yejin shot her a glare. she had been working here long enough to know when someone was making a snide remark about her... she had just wished that the girl had more sense in her than to say something about her like that when she was only a few meters away. cowardly, that’s what yejin called it. rudeness towards her wasn’t going to fly well so instead of taking the other up in her offer, she’d retaliate. “well you certainly seem to think you’re the wise of the wise the way you just entered my office. we don’t have the same troubles or responsibilities so i highly doubt you can help me. you also seem to disguise whatever comment you were wishing to say to me, no doubt something unnecessary. i have no desire to speak with people like that.” yejin wasn’t going to let it pass by. it had already been established that she was in a foul mood so how the other was acting was unnecessary.

the odd request was somewhat refreshing to dongwoon, and he could not help but to let out a chuckle at her words. despite not being used to being treated like this, he found it amusing to have been degraded to an assistant of sorts. ‘ yejin, yejin, yejin . . . ’ he sighed to himself and stood up from where he had been resting earlier to prepare coffee from the two of them. ‘ i am no barista, love, so a regular coffee with soy milk will have to do. ’ when she suddenly offered him the post-it, he could not help but to laugh at the situation, yet, not wanting to appear rude, he took it with a smile. ‘ how is ahyoung ? you should bring her here more often. ’ he questioned, stuffing the note in his inner-pocket as he finished up the two cups of coffee for the both of them and settled them on the table, gesturing for her to sit down with him. ‘ sounds like you have a lot on your plate currently. is the board giving you hell ? ’
sitting on the edge of her desk, the woman looked towards dongwoon as he tried to dramatically deliver his lines by dragging it out. she knew that if she did that, nothing would ever get done. yejin could have done with being a little more polite when it came to her interactions with others but didn’t see the point in it if it was going to delay processes. “you still haven’t improved on your skillset? beggars can’t be choosers.” she muttered. asking him to do it had worked in her favour, even if he was laughing at her for doing so. she was resourceful and was going to use every opportunity handed to her. “ahyoung is fine but i don’t really want her here. she has these ludicrous ideas of wanting to become an idol and while i’m not into crushing her dreams just yet, i wish to avoid feeding into them. also there’s the possibility of ruining my image as some think that i don’t have one maternal bone in my body. i’d like to keep it that way.” she pulled a smile towards him. “they always are but this is retalliation. i’m always the one to cause them it before it comes back to me. some people just don’t listen.”
sydnyz:
sydney didn’t mean to eavesdrop, she just happened to be there when primera’s manager is babbling by herself. it’s not a surprise that she tends to poke her nose into people’s affairs, somehow she just fancies the idea of learning new things about people, even if they don’t want her to. once she’s pretty sure that the older woman is no longer speaking, or if she’s taking a pause long enough, sydney decides to finally chip in. “you don’t sound like you love your job so much,” she says. working as a manager to the nation’s girl group surely doesn’t seem easy, she could totally understand if that’s how yejin feels towards her job. “there’s pro and con in everything, so that’s normal, i guess. i won’t ask what happened, but you can rant to me if you need someone, unnie. unless you know, you prefer to talk to yourself.”
yejin didn’t mind sydney, she was one of the more tolerable people around here but the other should have known not to push her when she was like this. looking towards the other with narrow eyes, she let out a small tut of disappointment. “how is that a helpful comment?” yejin wasn’t someone who left right on the dot of her day but it wasgetting to her thinking that the nanny was spending more time with her daughter than she was. ahyoung was more important to her than her job but people wouldn’t have guessed that with the hours she worked. a few knew that she was a mother, a single one at that no thanks to the father, but she wasn’t the type to broadcast her personal life atwork. “please don’t start. i’m just ready to go home but the executives won’t stop emailing me about booking more for the primera members. guess it’s just up to me now and i would rather they told me their plans than having me work in the dark constantly, but hey, what’s new? i was a sucker to think that things would change, an absolute sucker.”
hqfei:
FEI THOUGHT she heard mumbling echoing through the quiet halls of solar, a woman’s voice who sounded a little lost and frustrated. it wasn’t really like fei to eavesdrop on anyone, yet she felt the need to pop her head through the doors where yejin was stationed for the time being. “why are you saying that so many times? trying to convince yourself?” speaking out in a softer voice, smiling because she wasn’t sure if that came off rudely or not. she knew the job of a manager was stressful, especially if you were working for as long as primera’s manager. “i think it’s okay to be frustrated over these things…you’ve been working for many years now.” anyone would be a fool not to respect or even love primera and what they did in this industry, but their time was slowly coming to an end. no wonder the other manager was feeling the way she is today. “i can’t really imagine how you’re feeling right now, and i don’t even know why i came in here to speak but - i’m here now.” casually shrugging her shoulders.
yejin should have stayed in pr management than insisting for an opportunity that offered a more hands up approach. as no promotion followed, she was afraid that she had been locked intoa dead end job. everyone loved primera but the group was old and couldn’t continue to run if they had no direction. for now it was a matter of booking the women into variety shows as well as modelling but sorting that out was a job and a half when it came to liaising with the other companies. of course she was trying to convince herself. “do you think that i’ve just decided to become a really enthusastic team member? how believable is that narrative?” it wasn’t even close to being believable but it was worth a shot. the more the girl talked, the older yejin felt. “god, you’re making me feel ancient. stop right there.” yejin’s attitude wasn’t the most pleasant but it got things done, thankfully. “no, you can’t imaginee. no one can. everyone else thinks that they have it so hard but they should try be me for the day. most of them would crack within the first hour. at least i’ve got this far holding it together.” flicking through papers, the woman sighed. “is there anything you need more for? if not and you’re free, i have more than enough things for you to be getting on with.”
hqminseoks:
in reality , minseok ’ s mother was very much alive , at least she had been the last time he spoke to her , she had just chosen another life before him , and honestly , minseok did not blame her. his relationship with his family was complicated , and that was why he kept it a secret to the rest of the world , his friends included . ‘ too bad . then again , you are way too scary to be an idol . ’ he told her bluntly as he closed down all his tabs , putting his computer into a resting mode . ‘ ah , man ! i didn ‘ t do anything , miss . ’ with a pout , minseok childishly crossed his arms over his chest and gazed upon her with his long eyelashes , hoping to charm her . ‘ no , no , no . . . i am good ! no scollding necessarily . plus woah , woah , hey ! are you gonna take that ? c’mon ! ’ he whined , doing a grabby notion toward the flask . ‘ please can i give it back ? i will do you a favor . whatever you want . . . wait , i don ‘ t feel so good . . . ’ he trailed off , only to hunch over suddenly , the alcohol deciding to come up the opposite way .
it was music to her ears when the drunk idol told her that she was scary. yejin was a businesswoman and desired to be intimidating so this was great validation. now all that was left was for her to get that promotion, the promotion that felt like it was a million miles away despite working hard towards it. management didn’t like her, she was a woman, had opinions and had no problem speaking ill of them; they deserved it and everyone knew it. primera had been a great group but it was running to the end of its course. solar being solar didn’t want to give up in it just yet and that meant she was trapped with the group; the woman was still bitter over being rejected for the valetta managerial position. they wouldn’t let her move on and that frustrated her. “thank you for the compliment.” she would rather have people be afraid of her than walk all over her.cursing underneath her breath as she anticipated what was coming next, the woman sighed and looked away. this wasn’t in her job description and she was sick of having to deal with it all the time. if people were acting like this, they didn’t deserve to be here. stepping out of the room for a moment, shecame back with a mop and bucket. “you’re going to clean this up yourself.” she wasn’t going to sugarcoat anything. for once, she wanted an idol to clean up their own mess; she wasn’t going to do it for him.
pinkrubies:
for as much as ruby wanted to pop out from behind the shadows and comment on the show that yejin was putting on, her desire to sit back and simply take it all in was greater. ruby would be lying if she said she was anything less than a die-hard primera fan. being this close to their manager was as exciting as it was nerve-wracking. she owed it to her elder to make herself known, so ruby spoke up as she walked into yejin’s line of sight. “unfortunately, a lot of things at this company don’t work the way they’re supposed to. it drives me crazy with frustration, so i can only imagine how you must feel.”
ruby affirmed before looking down at her hands, which were fiddling with the hem of her shirt ( a bad nervous tic ) before looking back to the manager. “how do you do it? i mean, you must have an iron will and a strong backbone, but how else?” really, she didn’t want to see yejin hurry off without asking her as much as she could in a quick amount of time.
her frustrations with the company were building and she would be threatening to leave altogether if some things didn’t change. while she didn’t broadcast to everyone that she was a single mother (some still thinking she was married), she expected the company to give her an allowance as a long standing member of senior staff but that never happened. she worked for her daughter but her work stopped her from seeing her and that was a problem. she would already be labelled the ice queen mother, people would wonder how someone like her could have it in her to be a mother but ahyoung was her everything and she was invested in her, more so than her father ever had been. at the moment, the nanny was spending more time with her and that wasn’t acceptable in her eyes; she wanted to be with her more but everything seemed to be against that wish. “frankly, it’s shocking. you would have thought they would have fixed it by now yet here we are.” she couldn’t contain her frustrations for any longer.
if solar were more supportive of her, yejin would have had the time to have a much needed sit down with her members to discuss their feelings as well as new opportunities (she wouldn’t have thought twice about managing one of them as a soloist). there were issues that needed to be addressed and if this volume of administration continued, she wasn’t going to get anywhere. “people should call me a miracle worker.” her ego was large, everyone knew that but she had worked hard and wasn’t going to let her hard work go unnoticed. “got to keep at them. they’re more interested in what you’re doing than doing their own job. i appreciate the compliment.”

cfcasis:
ᴄᴀʀᴇꜰᴜʟ ᴅᴀʀᴋ ʜᴜᴇꜱ ᴏʙꜱᴇʀᴠᴇᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴏᴛɪᴏɴ, lips hiding behind the coffee mug given to him by one of the trainess. usually, the idols were pretty rushed and pushed around inside the building, but his interest usually focused on the managers. they said so much about the group they managed. and right now, yejin seemed to be troubled about something that kept dictating that mantra to herself “ —— hey … listen … you won’t get anything done in that rush. ” and yet he knew he had said something stupid; she was older and wiser, he shouldn’t even be talking “ —— nevermind. maybe i get you some tea ? you seem troubled. ”
stopping in her tracks at his ‘instruction’, her eyebrows automatically raised towards him. the woman wasn’t incompetent, they wouldn’t have hired her otherwise but she felt like she kept getting the short straw in everything. she was coming to realise that others hadn’t wanted to manage primera for a reason but she had thought that she was talented enough to iron the group out and make it better than before; evidently she thought too highly of herself. she still did this for the money, for her daughter but she hardly got any time to see the girl these days and she was starting to feel like a failure, something that did not sit well with her no-nonsense attitude. “excuse me? are you telling me how to do my job?” shaking her head, the woman groaned and sat back in her seat. “a tea would be fantastic, a fantastic time to redeem yourself from whatever just left your mouth... for your sake, i’ll say you misspoke.”
minhyukhqs:
“i have no idea what you’re talking about.” minhyuk’s head shook, though despite how horrible he felt, he immediately bowed to the older woman. out of respect, of course, but also to prove a point. or attempt to. he didn’t want her knowing that he was beyond hungover and felt like he was about to hit death – he always felt that way thanks to so!ar though. he did take a sip of the coffee, a frown appearing. he absolutely hated the taste but if she wanted him to drink it? hell, he’d do anything so long as he was on her good side. “they can’t be in a bad mood when i’m part of the reason why they have a job and they’re getting paid as well as they are.” and there was the cockiness. it was true, of course. but he didn’t want to hear about any c2 staff being in a bad mood. “– sorry. i’m just tired of being overworked and constantly working.”
“hmmm...” that was all she was going to say on the subject. yejin had worked here for too long to not be able to smell a hungover idol from a mile off. in her opinion, the young ones in other groups got away with far too much and she was pretty sure that if she had come into work in such a state, she would no longer have a job. she understood there was certain pressures that came with being an idol but they had been aware of this when they signed their contract and everyone worked hard here, not just them. the woman was unable to stop herself from rolling her eyes as his arrogance sone through - there was nothing she hated more than an arrogant hungover idol. “oh, really ? with that arrogance i almost mistook you for a soloist. there’s plenty more of you and you are replacable, so don’t for one second think that you create jobs for us because that’s an idiotic way of thinking, to say the least.” he was making his bed with her and he would have to lie in it. yejin stopped in her tracks as the excuses came. “are you still drunk? that’s all of us, not just you. please keep yourself iin check.” oh, the things she did in order to provide! everything simple felt like a struggle with these people and she wasn’t enjoying it anymore.
i still have 5 replies to do on yejin but will do this after i sleep - i have drafted 7 of my replies already! thank you for your patience with me and thank you so much again for replying!
i have so many replies to get out there (thank you everyone for replying to it). i’m out all day today but i may be able to get some done tonight/tomorrow!
svlarmerqutio:
a hiatus had done dongwoon good, and not just in the sense that it had meant that he finally had gotten a break, but it also gave him time to think over all the aspects of his line of work that he despised. the constant overworking of idols and staff members was one of the things that he had always held a grudge toward; yet, he worked in the entertainment business, an industry ran by capitalism, so of course people were going to get exploited to the maximum. what was even sadder was that it had taken years for him to realize it. ‘ i know they say: fake it til you make it, but speaking from experience, that is straight up lies. ’ he remembered, how empty he had felt during his promotions of his single album, and how his manager had been forced to physically pull him out of bed every schedule he had, and how that hole in his chest grew, and his constant work never really paid off. ‘ want some coffee ? ‘
yejin thrived on pressure. she loved stepping up to the plate when no one would, it brought her such gratification that she was unable to stop. sadly, she should have been like everyone else who stepped away from primera when it was in crisis; the woman’s ego drove her to make hasty decisions. she believed she could turn it around and now she was stuck with a mess, a mess of pure genius nonetheless, but it was still a mess that was attached to her. another voice joined in on her rant and she stood up straight, blinking her eyes several times and gradually pursing her lips. “i wasn’tborn yesterday...” the silnce that followed that could be cut wiith a knife as she proceeded to stare at him for a lengthy period. yejin had a problem with faking it but when it came to turning a blind eye, she was a pro. “ah, finally. an intelligent thing comes out of your mouth. you had me worried for a second. a latte would be great and while you’re at it, please call howon and tell her i’ll be late back.” her babysitter, of course. the girl wouldn’t be happy about it but she should have been grateful as it meant more money for her in her life of part-time work. scribbling down some digits onto a post it note, she held it out to him. this was a time where she got way above her station and started treating idols like assistants. “thank you ever so much.”

“i love my job, i love my job, i love my job.” the phrase carried on repeating as the woman tried so hard to convince herself that it was the truth. every day she woke up with the intention to prove herself. in order to get to the top, she needed to seize an opportunity but that was hard considering that they were never given to her. primera had turned into a sinking ship and everyone knew it. she had tried to get the job to manage legacy but solar had rejected her. rejected after ten years of service? she sept more time here than with ahyoung and this was how they repaid her. yejin was intimidating and she did have a temper but it was the result of pent up frustration at the higher powers in the company. “why must i do everything myself? was i the only one born with brain cells? i was meant to leave two hours ago and now this is a shit show...” management could tell her off another hundred times and it still wouldn’t alter her behaviour. yejin was good and she knew it; why did they have such a tough time of accepting that?
seeing mirae in such a state had unnerved the woman, it must have as there was no other reason for her to be heading in the direction of ms. kwon’s office. guilt was not something that sora felt and that wasn’t going to change any time soon, not when she had too much pride in her success despite her ugly personality. this wasn’t her being concerned, that’s what she kept telling herself. the woman was so sure that she had left primera in the past, that it was all just a horrible distant memory but some bond was holding on for dear life. sora cared enough to try and go to the ‘new’ managers office, the one that got the job because she left and the previousone couldn’t handle the fallout, and this was a strange feeling for her. dropping her entitled act at the door, the woman knocked twice and entered, not waiting for permission to enter the office. “ms. kwon. please can i borrow a short amount of your time. it’s important.” everything that came out of her mouth seemed important to her but this was the first time when she meant it. she still wasn’t sure of her ulterior motives; if the primera leader was unwell and had to take a break, would sora finally stop being directed all the blame? only time would tell whether her intention was genuine care or self serving.
@hqyejin
just when yejin thought her day could not get any worse, cho sora waltzes into her office. of all people? what did i do wrong? the woman would think these thought often in her head but it wasn’t always like that. she did find the other’s attitude amusing at best but she was aware that the soloist did have the power to push a few buttons of management here and there; yejin could handle it and she did enjoy seeing others buckle under the pressure. sora was the reason why she got the job and now she was the reason why she was stuck in it. a promotion? forget it. a new group debut? finish what you were so sure you could fix. managing primera was like having a target on her back. the group had done well but it was like beating a dead horse - everyone was overworked and nothing spectacular was going to come out of hagged kpop idols when they lacked a fresh face. it wasn’t her dismissing them but brutal honesty, a statement that the world needed to accept before she was let off the hook. “what’s important to you today, sora? did your assistant give you the wrong shampoo? did you break a nail? oh, how can i make your life worth living today? you don’t call me the miracle worker for no reason. if it doesn’t concern me, please leave me out of it.” sora had never called her a miracle worker but when the opportunity came for yejin to poke back at sora, she could never resist.
