Was Noam a big masochist or was he just horny when he decided hooking up with Dara while being Lehrer's prodigy was a good idea in The Electric Heir?

Sometimes I sit here and think about Victoria Lee and that scene from The Fever King where Dara told Noam what Lehrer did to him and how they recreated it in The Electric Heir, but they wrote it as Dara telling Noam what Lehrer did to BOTH of them.
