Prompt: “You’ve shown me what love can feel like.”
Today was the big day. You had been counting down for a over a year now and the day had finally arrived.
You stood in front of a full length mirror, admiring yourself in your beautiful white gown while a camera clicked behind you. You listened to the photographer as the final touches were added. Your maid of honor helped with your necklace and bracelet then your mother approached you with your veil. You blinked back tears as the veil was put into place, hugging your mother shortly after.
As your bridesmaids filed out of the room, you retrieved your bouquet of red and white roses. You left the room and made your way to the doors where your father waited for you. You did your best to hold it together as your father wiped his own tears from his face.
“You look beautiful, sweetie,” he murmured to you as he gave you a hug.
The two of you took your positions and the doors open, revealing the walk way into the garden where the ceremony was taking place. You heard Here Comes the Bride playing from a piano as you came around the corner of the hedges. You were finally in view of your future husband.
The look on his face was perfect. A look of awe and adoration flashed onto his face before the look of absolute love landed. You watched his lower lip quiver and his blue-green eyes began to water. He ran the back of his hand over his eyes and chuckled as he looked you over. His smile grew bigger as you got closer to him.
The music stopped and the officiant began to speak. “Thank you all for gathering here today to celebrate with us. Before we begin, I must ask: who gives this woman away to be married?”
“Her family does,” your father spoke up. He hugged you once more before holding your hand out to your future husband. He stepped away and took his seat.
Taron murmured a quick and quiet thank you to your father before the two of you stepped back in front of the officiant, your hands in his. He couldn’t take his eyes off of you and the smile didn’t change once.
It was hard to pay attention to the officiant. You were so caught up in Taron. All you could do was smile and blink back the tears of excitement. He looked so handsome. His tux was black and his bow tie was perfectly tied. A little bit of stubble lined his defined jaw. It was your favorite of his looks.
Your attention was pulled as the officiant told you both that it was time for your vows. Taron was first.
“Y/N… I wrote my vows about six different times and none of them felt quite right, so I suppose my notes I wrote are just going to stay in my pocket,” he said with a small chuckle. “When we met three years ago, I knew we’d be standing here together. You make me laugh- like when you dance when you cook. You’re so passionate- how you focus on your work and make sure you put all of yourself into it. And caring… The way you check in to make sure my day is going well, how you run your fingers through my hair when I struggle to sleep, how you know when it’s been a bad day you put in my favorite movie and set out my favorite snacks. I could give you a thousand reasons as to why I love you but the biggest of them all… Y/N, you’ve shown me what love can feel like.” Taron took a second to wipe his face, his cheeks wet from his own tears of happiness. “It’s unconditional and continuous. It’s the late nights watching a silly show, fighting over a blanket when we have three more in the same room. It’s listening to you gush over the things that happened in a book you got lost in. It’s laying in bed beside you every night and holding you close and even though we’re both exhausted, all we can do is lay there and talk to each other. And yes, we’re both even more tired the next day, but we’re tired together. I promise that every day will be together. All the good days and the bad ones too.”
Tears were running freely down your cheeks now. You did your best to wipe your face without smearing your makeup. You accepted your note card from your maid of honor and followed the script you had made for yourself, though it was hard through the tears and small giggles that kept escaping.
You both practically fought to say your I do’s before one another, eager for the officiant to finish.
“And with that, I pronounce you man and wife! Taron, you may kiss your bride.”
No sooner had the words left the officiant, Taron’s mouth came crashing down onto yours. His hands gently cupped your cheeks until the slid around to your back. He pulled you close and kissed you hard. Very slowly and reluctantly he pulled away, leaving his forehead gently pressed to yours. “I can finally call you my wife,” he murmured against your lips before kissing you once more.
