Role Play Confessions!

I see a lot of confessions on here telling the adults in the community to not hit on or be creepy to the minors here but honestly, as an adult in the community, I’ve never seen that happen. It’s not to say it doesn’t happen, I bet it does; but all of the instances I’ve talked to with the adults in the community involving this subject have been about minors being overtly sexual and inappropriate towards US. I guess the point of this whole confession is that it bothers me when it’s always the adults who get shamed for it when all me and my friends ever do is shut it right down. Minors, you guys need to keep your friends in check too. It’s getting to the point that I don’t even want to be friends with people under 18.

I have a few small crushes on some of my followers and I get butterflies whenever they interact with me. I know that it only means that they like my content and not me as a person but still.

I have absolutely no problem with other people having different ideas about characters, ships etc. The beauty of this fandom is that there are so many different interpretations. But I will have a problem if you come at me and declare my interpretation is incorrect. It's fiction, nothing's the right interpretation. Let's all just have fun with it, shall we?

Jamie ( @ask-themaraudersmap) is too precious for his own good. He's way too lovely and dorky and just wonderful. He deserves all the love.

There’s almost 0 representation in the HP books, a white person roleplaying a character who is poc is not okay, because whitewashing that character is racist, you’re taking away the few representation that there is. POC people can rp white characters because the situation is completely different. If racism didn’t exist, then it would be okay for whatever person to roleplay whatever character, but right now, when racism is such an important matter, it isn’t.

I’m Not an RPer myself, I love so many of the RPs, but I like all the tags the people leave for each other when they reblog others’ stuff almost as much. To see friends just being super happy and appreciative of each other and also how they welcome new people to the community and just all the love in the tags makes me so happy.

I honestly don’t know how to get into the rp community and I’m too scared to ask because people are just like “just start posting!” Well I have…..and two weeks later I don’t have a single follower or notification. I’ve been making gifs and posts and tagging them with every tag I could think of, but still nothing. I fear I’m doing it all wrong.

I wish people felt comfortable coming to ask newer rpers how they felt and why they started out rather than the bigger blogs - and I'm not saying they shouldn't ask them - it's still recent for us so our advice might touch base more. The concerns you have? We're still working through them. I just think it'd be useful to ask us newer blogs too. Some examples @nerdydancingravenclaw @ravenclaw-has-claws @askslytherin-dorcas @askmoonyloonylupin @cities-alive and so many more. Go send them an ask.

This blog is starting to be just a pool of hate for people who are bitter about some other people’s happiness and creativity and it blows my mind. This complaints fest needs to stop. It’s tiring for content creators who do this for fun and work hard, and who have to see their work brought down by of a few clearly insecure persons who needs to work on their own issues. The envy and jealousy levels are just pathetic.

@maraudersandlily20 IS AMAZING! I saw the other confession and had to add on! Not only is she so incredible for representing the deaf community on tumblr, she’s also the sweetest human on the planet. She always answers asks with kindness and if you send her a message, she’s guaranteed to reply!!! I feel like she’s the pinnacle of what this community wants to be in regards to kindness!! I LOVE HER!!

I used to be part of the community but left after I saw how much of class system it actually is. Unless you get noticed by a bigger blog, no one cares for you. It’s gotten to the point where people idolize an rp’er so much that they refuse to see they have faults. I get that we are all nerds dressing up but it isn’t fair when the playing field isn’t equal (like bigger blogs putting out ko-fis and patreons asking for money) it’s all fun and games until your being bashed for speaking out about very problematic things in the community. Why should we have to keep quiet about obvious problems in the community (like RPers who are a lot older playing on minors sexual requests instead of not engaging/calling them out or fake apologies about things that have upset others) this used to be a fun community but it’s not anymore.

It's all well and good to say let everyone ship what they want!!! But actively shipping things that are bad (eg. Pedophilia / abuse) does have an impact on real life. It literally normalizes some really horrible things and can even contribute to abuse victims not realizing something's wrong.

I think the themed nights are so great. They get a big group of people in on one setting and anyone can be involved, I love it. It really feels like a community <3
