Good Omens s3 happy ending rewrite and rant 😞
*Aziraphale and Crowley appear*
Satan: Made your decision?
Aziraphale: We want you to create another universe.
Crowley: One without angels or demons, no God, no Satan, no heaven, no hell.
God: You’re asking God to create a godless universe?
Aziraphale: Well, yes, a universe without a Great Plan, nothing ineffable. A universe where humans truly have free will. A universe where we could.. *looks to Crowley* exist together.
God: Neither of you would be able to exist as you are in such a universe, you understand?
Satan: Wait. You’re not gonna indulge them in this nonsense, are you?
God: Yes. Yes, I think I am. You two fully comprehend the cost?
Crowley: We’ve been doing the demon and angel thing for quite a while now..
Aziraphale: We know what we’re asking for.
God: Very well. I’ll make it. I’ll make the universe ‘your’ way. I’ll even let an earth happen. Eventually there’ll be humans and life, in all of its mundane glory. Something that both of you will be stuck with until the end of your limited existence.
Aziraphale: That doesn’t matter.
*bing bang boom everything turns to dust and back screen*
*Big Bang earth zoom in thing “13.8 Billion Years Later”.*
*A boring looking Aziraphale sits alone on a bench in St. James Park. A ginger glasses-less Crowley jogs towards him, mumbling quick “‘scuse me”s as he weaves through a group of people.*
Crowley: *slightly out of breath* Angel, I’ve got the duck peas, the peas for the ducks, frozen peas.
Aziraphale: Oh wonderful! *he takes the bag and begins opening it* Thank you Crowley. I do worry we might not see many ducks with this dreary weather though.
Crowley: What? Nahhhh ducks live for the rain, special oil in their wings and all that.
Aziraphale: I see, well seeing as we aren’t ducks I suggest we get to feeding them before it starts pouring.
*they start feeding the ducks and it begins to rain.*
Feeling pretty disappointed and sad about this all so I guess just kinda wanted an excuse to draw them together and happy. I’ve waited so long for this and I put so much hope into these two. I was so sure that they would have a happy ending. Im so tired of queer parings with so much potential getting bad endings. It feels like all queer love stories nowadays are either hyper-sexualized or doomed to end badly. Now more than ever I was really hoping this show would break that trend, but it fell short like so many others.
