Your question seemed like it would benefit from an open-ended spread, so I pulled three cards for a vague mood. 

CARD #1

GALAXY - FOURTEEN

Community, diversity, and communications. Galaxies are innumerable disparate things bound together by tremendous gravity, the celestial bodies within them mirroring our own collections of cities and towns. 

This is a card about communities and the melting pot nature of them. Ideas ebb and flow from person to person, shaping and reshaping the community. This card represents the contributions made to the community. They may be asking you to communicate more or vice versa. This could just be an all around ‘reaching out’ card. Sort of like a welcome. 

CARD #2

WORM HOLE - NINETEEN - REVERSED

Worm holes are theoretical passages through space time that create somewhat dangerous shortcuts to two disparate places. While this is a card of connections and how two things that don’t seem related can be connected, either through fate, chance encounters, or coincidence, this is a reversed card. 

It can represent escapism and intentional skirting of responsibility, or denying reality. Be careful of diving in if you cannot see the bottom of the river, and be careful of sudden connections that seem too good to be true. 

This is the centre card and I believe this is telling you to be careful. You may not know who you are speaking to, and you may not know what laws you may be breaking by speaking at all. It is fun to fraternize with the supernatural, but on’t get too caught up in it. Worm holes are dangerous passages. Proceed with care.

CARD #3 

SUPERNOVA - TEN - REVERSED

When a star dies, it sometimes explodes. This is explosion is the supernova. 

This is a card of, obviously, explosions, outbursts, and surprise. While the resulting explosion may not be entirely unexpected, there may not be any way to control the outburst. While the outburst may be dangerous while it is happening, it will dissipate over time and be swallowed up by the past. 

Reversed, the card indicates that the explosion may come outside of one’s social circle. It may be a case of social change or a community encounter. The card calls on you to pay careful attention to what is fact and what is drama.

All together, these cards spell out the sense that there is something big happening in the community that indirectly involves you. The first card is pretty positive, but the other two indicate that dangerous undercurrents may be waiting for you in the deep end. The spirits, and I use this term loosely as I don’t know who or what you may be talking to, seem to want you to be careful of something big that will happen in the community around you. Nothing big showed up in the cards to indicate anything to fear, but i do recommend a healthy dose of wariness. 

You didn’t specify a spread, so I chose Spread #3. You also did not ask for this to be private so I am posting it public. I hope that is acceptable. 

CARD #1 - The Past

SATELLITE - SIXTEEN

Satellites are planetary objects that faithfully rotate around a planetary companion, and therefore it is obvious that the card should represent companionship, friendship, and loyalty. 

There is strong attraction and support, each one following the other with inexplicable dedication, as if a hound to a master.

CARD #2 - The Present

URANUS - SEVEN

Uranus is the god of hedonism and passion, sexuality and indulgence. 

The energy is high and wild and tends to whip itself into a tighter frenzy rather than dissipate. While Uranus symbolizes a lover who engages all of his passions completely, be careful of letting the desire eclipse all else.

CARD#3 The Future

WORM HOLE - NINETEEN - REVERSED

Most people know what a worm hole is, but if you don’t, it is a theoretical passage through space and time itself, linking two disparate places through a somewhat dangerous shortcut.

CARD #1 - The Problem

EARTH 6 - DORADO REVERSED

Dorado is a card about El Dorado, the golden city of myth, represented by the swordfish. It pertains to gambling, wealth, and assets.

Reversed, the card takes on a more greedy side. There is conflict with money or a yearning for things beyond your income bracket.

CARD #2 - The Cause

PAGE OF WATER - COLUMBA

Columba is the dove constellation. If you’re unfamiliar with Christian mythos, it was a dove sent from Noah’s ark that brought back a sprig of olive, bringing a message of hope for dry land after weeks at flooded sea. The card’s major symbolism is one of hope and peace and tranquility, though it can also mean a message of good news or sacrifice for the greater good.

You might have received a job offer that offers greater economic opportunity, and you may take on the role of the dove, flying off into the flooded world in a desperate search for dry land.

CARD#3 The Fix

AIR 6 - URSA MINOR

Close call, crisis averted. These are the words that represent Ursa Minor. The card tells the story of Arcas, the bastard son of Zeus and the nymph Callisto. In revenge for her union with her husband, Hera turned Callisto into a bear. As Arcas grew, he became a great hunter, eventually encountering his mother Callisto in the woods. She rushed to him, happy to see her son again, and Arcas drew an arrow in his bow to slay the ‘bear’. Before he could kill her, Zeus cast them both into the heavens to avoid tragedy.

Ursa minor warns to look deeper at the threads holding things together, to look closer at the people one has just met or the offers one has been given. It is a breath of relief after avoiding tragedy or resisting a snap decision. Be careful of taking on the role of Arcas, unknowingly shooting Callisto.

Card # 1 - The Problem

Earth 3, Leo Minor, Reversed

This is a card of novices, embodying people with budding talents and people in training. It’s reversed, referencing feelings of inadequacy and jealousy. You may be comparing yourself to Leo Major, to someone bigger and more experienced or successful, and that might be hurting you and holding you back. 

This card indicates your problem is emotional, your own insecurities holding you back. 

Card # 2 - The Cause

Earth 7, Crater & Corvus, Reversed

Crater & Corvus is all about delays, procrastination, and excuses. Reversed indicates that procrastination is a more serious or chronic issue. You may be making excuses to friends, family, or yourself about it. 

As this is the cause card, perhaps the frustration and jealousy leaving you stuck in the trainee role of Leo Minor is simply one of not putting in the effort to grow. 

Card # 3 - The Fix

Air 3, Hercules, Reversed

Hercules is hero in mythology, famous for completed great trials. The card itself therefore is all about the great effort he put in and the feats he accomplished. 

Reversed, the card implies that the Herculean efforts someone may be telling tales of are false and exaggerated, and their great skills could be only bluffs or posturing. A final test may be all that is needed to see if they are what they claim.

Depends! Are you using it alone? Some people just do not have the energy or conductivity to channel anything on their own. I certainly can’t use them alone and need one very conductive person with me or at least three people on the planchette or nothing happens. I’m a little better at pendulums but those are very hard to use with a board and you need it to be circular. 

I recommend using it with friends and maybe trying some different places. The outdoors tend to be more active than inside houses or in suburbs, because stuff out there is a little more bold. 

Try leaving out some offerings of candy or food to draw stuff in. Sometimes it will only be there for the sweets and immediately leave, but there’s nothing wrong with that. 

Ouija Boards are an essential part of my craft, and since I use them so much, I figured I’d share what I know

First things first, ouija boards are only as serious as you consider them. Some people will scream and rave about how you have to cleanse, cleanse, & cleanse and be very careful, but that’s only if you talk to something that warrants that. Ouija boards are a game, they’re sold to children for a reason. Chances are whatever you get will either think of it as a game as well, will already know you and have wanted to talk to you, or will just think it’s very neat that a directionless human is talking to them.

There are a few main points, though.

Etiquette

Be respectful. This basically means if they’re saying hello and talking to you, treat them like any other normal stranger, and be a respectful person. Don’t be rude. Especially if you’re taking the board to a place that is not you or your friend’s home. You are entering their space, they might live there. That said, if something is being a dick to you, feel free to be a dick back. The rabbit doesn’t have to be polite to the wolf that’s shoving it in its mouth. Don’t go out to make enemies, though. Otherwise you’re just an ass. Word will spread.

Understand that what you’re talking to probably won’t be human, or have ever been human. They might be strange. They might say weird things. They might seem offputting or violent at first but I’ve found if you give them an hour to talk - it takes a lot longer to have a conversation when you’re spelling everything out letter by letter - it’s usually just a misunderstanding. Again, you’re talking to a random stranger from another culture and way of existence than you, and there is bound to be some cultural misunderstanding. A lot of context comes from tone and body language and when you take that away…things can get messy and confusing.

Don’t be too gullible. Most things are fine with telling the truth if you first offer up the truth, but some things aren’t. Some just love to lie. Some lie to gain something, or to take something, or to mislead, and some lie for lying’s sake. If you wouldn’t trust a random stranger on the street with something or for something, then don’t trust a random supernatural stranger.

Always ask for a name. If they won’t give it, try to ask for a nickname they will let you call them. Name’s are important on their side, and they don’t have to give you theirs, but they do make everything much more helpful. If they’re reluctant, explain why you’re asking. They might give you their name or they might not, but if they don’t they might give you an explanation. Respect their decisions!

Always ask for pronouns. Some folk you’ll talk to will get incredibly offended if you use the wrong ones! And it makes it easier to get along with someone if you’re not constantly calling some poor dude a girl, or some poor girl a man. I’ve even come across some whose pronouns change constantly, so use they to be respectful.

Be careful with what you say. By that I mean it’s easy for things to trick you into accidentally letting someone into your house permanently or summoning something. It’s happened to me, it can happen to you. If they want you to say something but you don’t know why, push for a reason. You should also always be careful with how you say things. Once permission is given, it’s extremely hard to take away. Your words can become your law. In a way, you must become a lawyer and everything you say is a legally binding contract.

Have fun! Ouija boards are a toy, a game, and there’s no point using them if you’re not going to have fun. You can gain all kinds of cool new friends/acquaintances, or just become a little more knowledgable about who and what is in your house/yard/town/county. Let it be fun. Tell shitty jokes. Let the folk you’re talking to tell shitty jokes. Laugh. Make some friends.

EQUIPMENT

After these main points to keep in mind, there’s the set up. It doesn’t have to be a fancy, light up hasbro board, or wood, and the planchette doesn’t have to be planchette shaped. As long as it is heavy enough to ground itself to the board, will fit you and your friend’s fingers, and doesn’t wobble, it works. I’ve used river rocks, necklaces, shot glasses, a slab of opalite, and currently a flourite pyramid or a jade bracelet, but you can use whatever you want. I’ve found stones work very well. Anything that channels energy will do. Polished river rocks and agate work wonderfully.

Hematite and tigers eye are wonderful, but unfortunately using either of them too much can and will cause the stone to become brittle. It’s a grounding, absorbing stone and a great workhorse for the job, but don’t get too attached to the stone if you use it frequently. It will eventually break and may get hard to cleanse.

I personally would avoid anything iron or steel. These materials can burn those you want to talk to.

The board itself can just be a piece of paper with letters written in sharpie. I prefer these to commercial ones, since you can edit the content to fit your needs. I often add a ‘maybe’, ‘I don’t know’, ‘rephrase’, and if you’re talking to something evasive or shy, a ‘don’t want to answer’ can help too and save everyone time. I also add punctuation - . , : ; ( ) - and the folk I talk to enjoy making emoji’s out of them. How elaborate you want your board to be is up to you, just make sure the letters and spacing are large enough that your planchette can only cover one at a time. Otherwise it gets confusing and frustrating for everyone involved.

Other than that, there’s no strict rules about how to talk. Just say maybe a hello, ask if anyone wants to talk, stuff like that. Sometimes, if it’s slow, you can get a little bowl of candy or sweets or food and offer it as a gift in exchange for conversation.

FAQ

CAN YOU SUMMON DEMONS WITH A OUIJA BOARD?

Short answer? Definitely.

Long answer? Probably not.

They’re just people and they certainly don’t need or want to be 'summoned’ by some human with a Hasbro game for kids. Also, don’t be a racist(speciesist?) and demonize demons. Pun intended. There’s nothing evil about them and they don’t deserve your harassment.

CAN YOU SUMMON FAERIES WITH A OUIJA BOARD?

Yes, yes, and yes some more. They want in your house. The good folk will come in droves wanting into your house so they can eat your food and steal your things. You might even already have some, since they get in on technicalities.

They make great friends, though quick to anger and swift with revenge.

CAN YOU TALK TO GODS WITH A OUIJA BOARD?

Maybe. I’ve personally never tried, and I don’t think it’s a good idea. If you’re actively trying to talk to a god, something else can easily show up and be all hello, I am definitely that deity, and then proceed to lie their ass off to get things out of you, be it energy or material items or whatever.

Gods in general are a dangerous force to be reckoned with and unless you’re approaching it with solemnity and religion, I don’t think it will go over well or even garner attention.

CAN YOU MAKE PORTALS?

Probably. I’ve never done it, but I’ve heard stories of people who have and I believe them. It all probably boils down to how much you consider a board a 'ritual object’, how much energy you’re putting into it, and exactly what rules or permissions you’ve laid down.
