Yeah no they were all a little bit confused when Sengoku first brought her out because their first collective thought was "strange, I don't recall being informed that the Navy had captured that girl, perhaps I missed the memo" because up to the very instant that they realize how familiar she looks, they have no reason to think she's anything special beyond a bit of leverage. They're 100% on board with the plan to use her to force the Whitebeards to surrender (not that they were informed she'd been captured) until they recognize her.

I have such a clear and vivid answer to this question and it's going to be a major part of the sequel and I'm devastated to tell you that at this point, I can't tell you guys who it is. However it is possible that this is a character I can see a romantic-subplot with....
But I think the thing I love most is writing her dynamic with a bunch of different people back to back because she's so different depending on who she's with. Every moment between her and Whitebeard is a joy to write, they've really run the full spectrum of moments together from the adorable to frustrating to heartbreaking and back to intensely sweet. I also love the dynamic between her and Luffy, but it's funny because that wasn't really our Alex (it was the closest she could get to her original personality, which isn't really her anymore after a decade inside One Piece) It's going to be so fun to write their new dynamic now that Luffy knows the part of her she was hiding.

With the recent reveal about Alex’s birth family I would be surprised about Alex becoming particularly distressed about Uncle Jinbe and Big Brother Sabo finding out :( two people she loves and knows were hurt so much by the ones whom she now knows she might be related to (no matter how much she hates it)
