Ode to WEBSERIES

Okay! I finally have a day off of work and can spew (pun intended) all my feels about the new five episodes that dropped for Clairevoyant! Here are some of the highlights from these episodes that I loved:

Ruby

I definitely feel like these set of episodes were more centered on Ruby and diving deeper into who she is as a character and the many facets of her personality which I love. I love analyzing characters and it was nice to see the complexities that make up Ruby- from her as a best friend, to her insecurities, to what makes her tick, to her past…we’re starting to see Ruby as more than just the “wild free-spirit” friend and beginning to see who she is as a whole and I love it.

Claire and Ruby’s friendship

Speaking of friendship, the scene in which Claire decides to cancel her second chance with Nico to instead stay home and keep Ruby company is definitely one of my favorite moments. It made my heart melt seeing how supportive she was for Ruby. She knew that Ruby going through a very difficult time and instead of the typical “choosing your crush over your friend” cliche that we see so many times with women characters, we got to see them being there for one another. Women are so often pitted against one another that it was refreshing and heartwarming to see them actually supporting each other onscreen instead.

I also want to give credit to the writing of Claire and Ruby’s friendship. There is so much realism in the dynamic of these two and how it’s acted onscreen. I love that they also show the double edged sword that comes with close friendships which is that you know the person very deeply. That means you know what they need when they’re hurt, but you also know exactly what can hurt them and sometimes that can rear its ugly head when there is tension which we see a little bit with Claire and Ruby. However, what’s great is that while we see these arguments we also see them working through it together and that’s what’s most important.

Annie’s Arms

…I don’t have anything deep to say about this one. I just thought Annie’s arms needed to be appreciated lol. My queer ass was floored when I saw her arm muscles. I had no idea the girl was freakin’ ripped! It is now gay law that Annie must also have at least one tank top scene from now on in future projects lol.

“Okay. Oh, Okay.”

I. LOVED. THIS. INTERACTION. SO. MUCH!!! The more I watch of Claire and Nico the more I fall for these two smitten lovebirds. They’re just too precious!!! First off, I LOVED that Nico first states that she’s going to kiss Claire but also asks for permission before she does. Not only was it a cute moment but having her ask for consent made it even sweeter. I enjoy when series show consent and I love that it was shown over something as innocent as a first kiss.

Also, HOW PRECIOUS WAS CLAIRE!!! Her reaction was priceless and basically every queer girl ever who is about to be kissed by their crush- full inability to function and intense gay panic/bliss lol. Her face and constant ‘Okay’s’ were just too endearing. This moment was the most purest and precious thing and I really need more of this relationship!

Dinner Scene

…this show is wild as fuck lol. Like, you think they wouldn’t be able to top the absurdity of high Claire and nude cleaning services…and then episode 10 comes along. I actually busted out laughing when watching this moment with how hilarious but also how fucked up it was lol. The physical comedy, editing, and music was just too damn perfect. Is it wrong to say kudos for this scene? lol.

This show keeps getting more and more wild and absurd and honestly I’m so here for it. I find myself shaking my head and laughing a lot with what comes out of this show…literally lol. Major props to the creative peeps behind this show. I can’t wait for the next batch of episodes to drop!

Okay, but like…you don’t even understand how much I love all of this.

George takes charge of the situation in the most manly way s/he can think of, using some amazing gestures in the process. Also the way the “…and Emily Dickinson” is just casually slipped in at the end is freaking hilarious.

Oscar is clearly upset, but is also clearly more concerned with LOOKING dramatically upset than the fact that there’s apparently been a murder.

Charlotte’s all, “Yes, of course, I’m definitely focused on what you’re saying, sounds like a plan, nope I have no clue what’s going on either, nobody bother looking at me.”

Ernest looks slightly stunned, but he’s processing.

Annabel is the only one who seems genuinely concerned about Eddie’s passing, although she’s not quite sure how to act because she’s not quite sure how she felt about him.

Eddie is so perfectly still, you just know he’s been rehearsing playing dead for weeks, thoroughly preparing for his long-awaited revenge.

This is too much for Fyodor; he needs more vodka.

Edgar is resigned to the fact that his party is a disaster; not surprised, but a little disappointed. Two corpses already…yes, he should have seen this coming.

Louisa May is the only one who seems to see anything wrong with George’s statement; she looks confused, and even starts to turn to Emily when she speaks. Obviously anyone who acknowledges Emily’s presence must be killed sooner rather than later.

Mary is so ready to solve these murders. She could be dangerous to the killers; she’s clearly not long for this world either.

Emily, whom pretty much everyone assumes is already dead, is off to the side, hardly in the shot, BEHIND THE FREAKING WATER JUG. She barely gets out her only three words in the ENTIRE CHAPTER before she’s interrupted.

And Lenore really couldn’t care less about any of this as long as people don’t disparage her soup.
