People need to know about Harry Potter.
Harry is passionate, and he's far from a pacifist. He's sick of war, yes, but he knows that the best way through something is just to go through it. He knows that to achieve peace, you first need pain. He gets this from his parents, it's in his blood, but he also gets this from his Aunt Petunia.
He traded out his hatred for him for anger, he uses it up when he needs to.
He's charismatic and witty and sarcastic, and people like to be on his team. It's why he's Quidditch Captain, it's why he's part of the Slug Club. It's not because he's Harry Potter, the Chosen One who almost killed Voldemort; it's because he draws people in.
He doesn't need someone to yell at a group or get their attention for him when they think he's lacking it, as Hermione often does, if Harry wants someone to listen to him, he would make you listen to him. When he gets angry, he's intimidating. There's no way around this -he is.
And part of that is because he's normally relaxed, he doesn't like being angry but he uses his anger well, when he goes from the funny one, the chill and laid back guy everyone likes to hang out with to the scariest person in the room, nobody forgets.
Nobody thinks that Harry Potter is docile, they know he's a threat.
Harry is not someone that has a largely inflated ego, but he does have one and it can be bruised. He is humble to the point of infuriating his friends because you need to take credit for this, this is cool and worthy and you are worthy and he doesn't agree.
He can be arrogant- -especially about only-wizard related things, just like his father was arrogant about only-muggle things- -and yes, he's a teenage boy, he can be an arse, but he's nice.
He's one of the nicest boys at hogwarts.
He will go to a ghost's birthday party and feed Threstrials with Luna Lovegood and wipe the tears off of crying second years in the hall and celebrate with you for every reason and let Neville practice dancing with him and play Ron in chess even though he'll lose and rent out extra books for Hermione and give out hugs like they're free candy.
He is fierce; he will save your life.
But he will not be your friend, he doesn't let people get to know him just because they can. You have to work for it. But nobody will be able to tell, they think they already know him, they think they know everything about him and have him down packed.
They are wrong. There is always more to know.
